    oke het is my setup

    3x 100mbit lan card

    installed pfsense on harddisk

WAN is on card rx0       ipaddres 62.162.17*.3* <–- the * are numbers but not everyone needs to know
LAN is on card rx1      ipaddres 192.168.1.1

    connected WAN to the modem
connected LAN to a 100mbit switch

connected my laptop to the 100mbit switch

but the laptop isnt getting a ip from my pfsense server by default
i configured a fixed ip for my laptop

    ip 192.168.1.2
    mask 255.255.255.0
    gateway 192.168.1.1
    dns 192.168.1.1

still i cannot acces the webinterface

is there something i do wrong?

pfSense DHCP server isn't activated by default - it needs to be configured.

Your configuration is broken. Your laptop needs to have an IP address on the same IP subnet as the pfSense LAN interface. Its not clear why you chose the LAN address you did. I'd be inclined to use (say) 192.168.3.x/24 for LAN and enable DHCP server on pfSense so all the necessary configuration information gets sent to the laptop in response to its DHCP request.

is there a way i can enable DHCP from the shell ?

my lan interface had ip 192.168.1.1
my laptop had a fixed ip 192.168.1.2

so the both of them are in the same subnet i presume.

Please clarify your WAN and LAN addresses and network masks.

I presume your laptop is still connected to the switch which is still connected to the pfSense LAN port. (Note the LAN port and WAN port are not interchangeable. I'm not certain, but I suspect the default is to NOT allow access to the web GUI from the WAN port. Therefore you can just swap the pfSense connections to attempt to get a different address on the LAN port.)

Does the laptop LAN state LED suggest a working connection to the switch? Does the LED associated with the switch port connected to the laptop show "link up"? Same questions for the switch to pfSense connection.
