Trying to use PfSense DDNS with Dreamhost
-
Hello everyone! I'm trying to set up a VPN for my home network (that way, I can securely access home network files and such from the road). Of course, since I don't have a static IP from my ISP, I have to use DDNS, so I'm trying to use pfSense's DDNS function with a domain I set up with Dreamhost (let's call it "host.mynetwork.org"). The plan is, pfSense will update that "A" record in Dreamhost with my home network's WAN IP (from my service provider) each time it changes, so I can just point all my VPN clients to host.mynetwork.org.
Here's the problem: somehow, when I run a DDNS update in pfSense, it is causing the relevant "A" record in Dreamhost to disappear! I tried examining the logs in pfSense for some clue as to what is going on, and I'm not sure, but it looks like pfSense is removing the "A" record-- possibly to then try and replace it, but it's failing?--however, I'm not certain.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there a way to manually look at or edit what commands pfSense is issuing when performing DNS operations...and if so, what should I be looking for (or what should I replace it with)? THANKS for your help in advance!
