      Hi,
First, I need to say it : I'm really bad understanding how hardware support works. I'm trying to figure out if this hardware can be supported by pfsense in the actual stable version (2.6.X)

My real fear is the if the NIC is supported. I was reading the https://www.freebsd.org/releases/12.3R/hardware/

My real fear is the if the NIC is supported. I was reading the https://www.freebsd.org/releases/12.3R/hardware/

The NIC card info says that use the circuit: Realtek - RTL8111E, Asmedia - ASM1182E. The RTL8111 appears in documentation but i can't find the another one.

Please, anybody can give a push?
Sorry if my writting is weird, i'm learning English.

@kalt-wulx Check the FreeBSD 12.3-RELEASE HCL to verify.

RealTEK NICs are supported for the most part but might be unstable.

Yeah I would expect that to be supported but if you can get an Intel based NIC instead you should definitely do that.

Thanks Ryan and Steve, I will follow your advice; looking for a Intel based NIC, I found this: https://www.amazon.com.mx/Intel-Tarjeta-Server-Adapter-PCI-EX4/dp/B00DOEGBGG/ref=sr_1_11

            I think is good enough.

@kalt-wulx I would steer clear of that specific listing... the specs are all over the place not related to a NIC:

                Ha. Yeah that's.... interesting!

But in general I would expect an Intel PRO/1000PT NIC to work well.

@rcoleman-netgate Ops, bad link. This is the good one:https://www.amazon.com/-/es/Adaptador-Intel-servidor-doble-puerto/dp/B000BMZHX2/ref=sr_1_2?__mk_es_US=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=N0VBU5L7HQ5H&keywords=intel+network+card+pro+1000+pt+dual+port&qid=1666630903&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIxLjE3IiwicXNhIjoiMC4wMCIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=intel+tarjeta+de+red+pro+1000+pt+dual+port%2Caps%2C595&sr=8-2

But some comments give me a bad feeling. Do you know a specific model of dual port?
                  Thanks for helping! :)

Almost any Intel based Gigabit NIC will work fine.

The only one I know for sure will work, because I have it here and have tested it myself, is this:
                    https://shop.netgate.com/collections/expansion-cards/products/4port-1gbs-expansion-card
We don't currently ship a 2 port Gigabit card.

                        @kalt-wulx

I'd have a look at ebay (EU) , and go for a used i340-T4
                        New cards are mostly Fakes

                        Intel i340-T4 4 x 1Gbit

Make sure your PCI interface fits the card you buy.

                            Well obviously I'm biased. 😉

I would always choose the 4100 there.

What is your WAN connection speed at that location?

@stephenw10 jeje I know, in my location i've got two wan connection, 10Mb (download)/1Mb(upload) each one. I think the 4100 is enough for a small business office, 2 Ricoh printers, 2 Ubiquiti Nano AP, 20 workstations, someones via LAN anothers by WLAN.

The traffic is to a bank's site mainly and Gmail/Outlook via Web browser.
Ocasionally for listen/watch a video in youtube.

I was planning using a multi-wan configuration, the load balancing and failover, pfblocker, maybe a squid proxy for caching? I was thinking use too CoDel because I've a low upload bandwith. Maybe some trafic shaper rules for ip based.

My first idea was use a custom hardware but I'm a nob 👶 , maybe the 4100 can be a good option for my context.

What do you think? Is the 4100 a good option?

Yes, the 4100 would no problem at all with that sort of bandwidth. You could do whatever you want with that.
