Is there a way to schedule an upgrade ?

Just wondering if I can preload the installation files... and then schedule the upgrade?

      Thank you,
      -dt

@dtpantera There is a console command, perhaps you can run it with the cron package?

I'm assuming the goal is to do it at 3am or some down time. I would want to see it, myself...if something did go wrong, it could get fixed then and not wait until 8am.

Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. If yours is older, select it in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, let it finish; do not reboot early. Allow 10-15 minutes, or more depending on packages and device speed.

a cron job (as said before)
          a script
use putty to log in console and set up option (13)
          fast done and nothing fancy!

@secopsdirector I wouldn't want that at all, especially if it's a huge update like 22.05->23.01 is. But if you want to run something like that, you can just evoke a pfSense-upgrade -y command via cron at a time to your liking.

Personally I'd rather prefer a good monitoring that checks, if there are updates/upgrades available and gets me a dashboard of "ToDo" so we can run the updates in communicated update-windows that are cleared with customers and not at 3am in the morning, failing and leaving a box stranded without internet and having a supporter drive there to revive it. :)

            Cheers

              Agree...

What I am trying to do is not waste my time waiting for a download over a small bandwidth connection.

I would like to preload / download the upgrade package... which could take some time...

Once downloaded, then I can come back and upgrade...

Similar to TrueNAS in how they allow you to download the upgrade... then later come back at a convenient time to actually do the upgrade...

Can a preload be done ?

              Thanks.
