Another instance of pfSense-upgrade is running. Try again later

@s0m3f00l And you made sure to go into the GUI, to the update settings and change it tp previous version 23.01 then save before you did that, correct?
-
-
@s0m3f00l Well, that is unfortunate. I guess try that with other suggestions and see if combo of this works. It worked for me on bare metal, so was worth posting. Good luck!
-
Okay this one appears to work.
The basic process appears to be:
-
In Gui Set System Update to previous version
-
Goto console and enter 'pkg-static update -f'
-
In console enter 'pkg-static clean -ay; pkg-static install -fy pkg pfSense-repo
pfSense-upgrade' -
'exit' the console
-
Goto GUI and change System Update to Current Stable (23.05) version
-
Goto admin page and use option '13'
-
Update starts and completes as normal.
Thanks to @Boboki for starting my path to upgrading.

@s0m3f00l Glad it worked out! Happy that it fixed at least ONE person, or I should say lead them to the fix for themsevles.
-
-
@Boboki thanks, your method worked for me! With a slight variation: in the last step I just pressed 'upgrade' in the Gui, instead of going back to command prompt.
-
@xirus Awesome, that is good to know as well!

Reconecting the WAN Port solves the problem.
I verified this on a Netgate 6100 and a Netgate 2100. -
R rcfa referenced this topic on
-
For me it was the dashboard widget (System information) that needed to time out or get its response before I could check for a new update. Once that had fetched the version information it worked.
-
This was biggest time vampire of the whole 25.07.1 update process for me on my 1100s. We'll see how it goes when I update my 4200.
Some of the above methods worked some of the time. None of them work all of the time. Some of them worked none of the time.
Why wasn't this issue patched previously? Is it fixed now in 25.07.1?
-
It's no different in 25.07.1. The 1100 can take a while to complete the check I agree. It's not really a bug though, it really is waiting for another instance to finish. Previous versions just hid that.
