Netgate 4200 thermal question

What is the critical (CRT) temperature limit?
Although my non-Netgate appliance TZ0 is 26.9C, the critical limit is 95.1C

What's the ambient temperature there?
That's not worryingly hot but it probably could be cooler with better air flow.

As a comparison point, my 4200 is currently showing 59.1C for "Zone 0" and 50 to 53C for each CPU (the CPU numbers bounce around a bit). This unit sits in a small closet along with a couple of other pieces of network gear, and there's no airflow beyond leakage around the closet door. I haven't tried to measure ambient temp in the closet but it's noticeably a few degrees above the adjacent hallway. I'm sure I could get it down a couple degrees by making some holes, but the WAF (wife acceptance factor) for that would be pretty low and it doesn't really seem like this is warm enough to worry about. -
I actually added a fan inside my 2100 inside it. There is also some Amazon networking gear usb based fans and or cooling pads that might help in your environment.

This unit is in a rack cabinet with others devices and rack switches .
The range warning-critical is set with default value : zone , core and PCH all 60-70 °C . -
Any idea what the ambient temp is in that cabinet?

Is the 4200 directly above all the other heat generating equipment? If so, consider moving the 4200 below the other equipment in the rack and/or a space above or below.
Personally, I have all my AV and IT kit on metal wire racks

I've no idea what temp there is in the cabinet
I've decided to move the unit below in the cabinet and the temp is decreased about 4 °C and now is in the default range , my question now is :
What is the best temp that NG4200 (without fans or air conditioned enviroment) can reach in a normal enviroment ( 21 °C) ? -
It's hard to give any absolute values since it depends on loading etc. It's passively cooled so designed to run hot.

In my case , my Netgate 4200 is placed in the basement with ambient temperature of 16-18 C and I also had about 50 C of the CPU temperature. So I decided to place a 140mm fan running all the time on top of the Netgate 4200 and now I have about 20-24 C

I had a similar situation with mine. Sticking a fan to the top cut the temps to about half.
