if_pppoe didn't reconnect automatically

Hi,
I have been happily using 2.8.0-RELEASE since its release. Tonight though my PPPOE connection dropped, and woke up in the morning to no internet and the WAN interface down. I'm using the new
if_pppoemodule.System log didn't give a clue to what happened:

No entries in the PPP log. Any idea why the pppoe link didn't reconnect automatically? I rebooted pfsense in the morning and all back to normal now.

@mcfly9 You might want to check my thread. Will report back if setting a Reconnect using Cron works.

Hmm, nothing logged before or after that?
It should have tried to reconnect.
If you see it again you can run
pppcfg pppoe0to see what it's doing. It will show you the connection phase and state. -
@mcfly9 I'm facing the same issue - I noticed it probably a few months ago but never followed up.
A reboot will fix the issue.
The cron job does not seem to reconnect properly, only a full reboot fixes the issue.

What does
pppcfg pppoe0show? Can you see it trying to connect in a pcap? -
@stephenw10 I have not see this reoccurring. It's been largely stable in the past 6 months. Will come back to this thread if it ever breaks again.
