ETA for pfSense

  • Guys, we really appreciate all of your hardwork both to developers, tester and not to forget all the bug loggers ;) I wish to get 2.0 available before X'mas….

  • As a fellow newbie I predict Pfsense 2.0 RC1 will be out when it is ready - which by Newbie decree issued today IS THIS MONTH DECEMBER 2010 :P

Peering more deeply into the crystal ball I am seeing a release date of before Christmas or Festivus  - but I may be wrong.

It could be around the original month of the Festivus ::)

  • As has always been the case, pfSense releases will happen when they are ready and not a minute before.  The developers are not in the habit of publishing extended release dates.

There are still a lot of open tickets or at least ones with feedback needed. Don't count on a release this year…

Dont count on 1st half of 2011 either.

there aren't that many critical issues remaining (we won't ever have 0 issues, never have, never will, no software does), assuming the big patch-related ones recently are all sorted as they should now be, we hope to hit RC1 this year. But as always, no promises, it'll be released when it's ready.

Remember to patch NAT reflection ;)

  • I doubt things are so bad - I am holding to my prediction  ;D

  • Yea, there are quite a lot of tickets open and last I remember reading was, If you want 2.0 released sooner, help to resolve some open tickets and provide feedback if the fixes work or not.

Hope is alive and well, but I won't be placing any bets on RC1 for this year.

  • Something fishy going on.

    No snapshots for 22 December.

    RC1 trying to come out?

The Elves are taking an early vacation to Hawaii to flee the cold?

    :P

  • To answer the inevitable “when will it be released?” – as always, “when it’s ready”. The release will happen sometime in 2010, but as for a more specific timeline, we can’t provide one at this time.

well 2010 got less then a week to go  :)

  • You guys did not believe me when I said something fishy was afoot?

My Unbound still not working properly - STOP RC1!  ::)

  • I still have lagg gui issues.

I still have the NAT reflection issues…...1.2.3 doesnt have it.

  • I'm sure it would help the devs more if instead of posting in this thread you updated any relevant tickets with your feedback (as mentioned in one of the posts at the top of this forum).

Unbound is a package not currently part of the base pfSense system. Please refer to your other thread on Unbound for logging of problems.

Dont say that twice! DONE!! :)

    Merry Christmas Havok!

  • Mr. Omero, you sound like you're having a panic attack…I'm sure 2.0 RC1 will not be released in any condition that will reflect poorly on the team. And even if the team leader decides on a release date, that would have to be in agreement with the other members who feel confident in such a date.

  • Mr. Jits sounds like you are getting jittery on us - I am sure it will be released when everyone on the team is in agreement that there is full confidence in the RC and so on and so forth. ;D

  • Ahh how sweet, a Christmas Bromance. . . .

  • I'm speculating that it is actually "m romero", not "mr omero" :)

  • Lol! I guess I am being a jittery ass. Thanks for the clarification.  :-*

  • Guys… for those had been using the 2.0-BETA (I know it is not ready for production) what do you say, should I load up this new version replacing my 1.2.3? or should I wait (until it's ready)

  • Banned

Wait…..:) I have tried a couple of times, but I dont think its ready for production yet. Still a long way to go.

Some basic things still making noises, so for a critical environement it is still a no-go.

  • It appears my prediction of Pfsense RC1 for the original month of Festivus is about to come through…

  • Hmmm - suspicious activity. The head honcho is not playing with the Traktor toy today and the PFSENSE beta snapshots are old at 18 February.

Maybe struggling to get out RC1 (version 2) this week to comply with my release date?  ;D

Forget RC1, I want to download pfSense The Remix (Sullrich Sunrise @ Ibiza Dub)

    What are you saying…... :D

  • I haven't had any major problems with the latest beta snapshot but some of the packages need a lot of work. To protect the guilty, I won't say which ones ;)

  • I think it is a Hip Hop theme song for Pfsense  ;D

  • Special thanks to all the contributor for making where we are now, you guys did superb job, here I got a small request; looking a head that we won't end at 2.0 where there shall be a few more releases of revision as improvement from there, correct me if I am wrong, we are now in a stage of debugging the release candidate? - where we had iron out what are the confirmed features and functions of our 2.0.

Also why some times my version says RC and sometimes it says BETA? (I am updating the changes by daily) ;)

Thank you and keep up the good work!

we had RC1 tagged and ready for official release, but in testing it, found a remaining panic and switched back to B5 label. It'll be going back to RC1 now that those all look to be resolved.
