        That would probably be:

        smartctl -s on 
        

        Where <dev>is something like /dev/ad0 (whatever your hdd is)</dev>

            No, there is no GUI option to activate SMART on your hard drive.

            You might also need to check your BIOS to make sure SMART is enabled there.

              I use a 3ware raid controller, check smart status over shell works fine http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,38843.0.html
              But is there a way to check it over the pfsense GUI?

                  I know that, but I do not see a device, problem is the 3ware controller.
                  Is there a way to see the SMART status through the 3ware controller in the GUI?
