In the Web GUI, go to Interfaces, then select LAN or WAN or OPT, under the General Configuration section you'll see Speed and Duplex and an Advanced button next to it, click on Advanced and select your appropiate speed and duplex. Save and Apply.

There are new builds/snapshots of pfsense 2.0 every day. Snapshots are only available for pfsense 2.0 and not for pfsense 1.2.3
If you are using pfsense 2.0, got to SYSTEM - FIRMWARE.

It means recent/newer snapshots. Don't forget to re-select the update server URL for snapshots after July 4th per the post at http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,38687.0.html as well to make sure you get the most current version.
