Pfsense as an NTP seerver

  • I am trying to configure the ntp server on my pfsense router but I cannot get and client computers to connect. I choose the interface that my vlan is associated with but I cannot telnet to port 123. Do I need to configure a firewall rule?

    Do I need to configure a firewall rule?

    Obviously.

    More information required.  Are you trying to get to it via WAN or LAN?

    but I cannot telnet to port 123

    How do you figure you're going to test a UDP service with telnet???

    Do I need to configure a firewall rule?

    Allowing or restricting access base on rules is what a firewall is all about.

  • @TyMac:

    I cannot telnet to port 123.

    NTP is only listening on UDP.

    @TyMac:

    Do I need to configure a firewall rule?

    Yes, unless you have a permissive "Default allow LAN to any rule".
