WAN has X and apinger won't start

This router has been up and going for years. Recently I noticed I no longer could access it from the WAN side so I logged on local and see this:

Restart makes no difference. WAN is an Intel Pro 1000 NIC using em0 driver:

My only guess is that the WAN NIC is dead? I have no other ideas.

your pppoe is stuck on a serial device instead of on em0.

goto interfaces–>assign-->PPPs-->edit PPPoE0

try to change its interface back to em0

Yeah I see that now. Thanks. I changed it to em0 and it complained so I changed it to WAN and lost LAN connectivity to it completely after applying. I will go by there tomorrow and restart it.
