WAN and LAN interfaces

Hello. I am a beginner in network and i am trying to install pfSense. However, when i have to set interfaces, i only have one WAN interface(re0) and i cant set a LAN interface. Can you help me to figure out what is wrong? Thank you!

You need two. WAN and LAN.

how can i have two? When i reboot pfSense,the only address is the WAN(re0)

The minimum of LAN Ports that should be there in the firewall hardware, should be 2 LAN Ports, and then you
are able to set up one as WAN port and one as your LAN Port.So you need to add a network interface card (NIC) to realize this.

You should have said so.
1. Get a managed switch and use VLANs
2. Get a USB NIC. Others can advise what might work. -

And why we must digging it out from your nose?
Take a Netgear GS108Tv2 and use VLANs well. -

Interestingly enough that's how I've got mine setup. I've got KVM running on an Intel NUC and virtualising PFSense rather than running it on the hardware. The "WAN" Nic is a dedicated USB 3.0 NIC - I get the full 1Gbps throughput. For a home router it's small and does the job. I also run a few other VMs on the same machine.
The newer USB 3.0 Nics, if supported are actually not that terrible. I've got a 4x Intel PCie NIC sitting around, but I'm waiting to build a mini iTX machine for that which i will run PFSense directly on the hardware.

Something tells me OPs old laptop isn't USB 3.0.
