I had been noticing some random hotplug events over the last few days for the ix1 interface in the system logs (maybe once or twice per day), but they only lasted for about a second and the interface came right back up. Didn't make much of it until today when the ix1 interface did not come back up after another such hotplug event. This occurred after about 50 days of uptime. As usual, I had to shutdown the machine, pull the power, and then restart it for the interface to come back. Up until now I had 4 VLAN's configured on this physical interface, but decided to swap those around today with one of the Chelsio physical interfaces after finding this: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=235918 Not sure if it's related, but will see if it makes any difference going forward. Looks like I may end up trying 2.5.0 sooner than later, or going back to an igb interface instead, as those work fine in the current 2.4.4 version.

Suddenly view this tread. I have many of this netsq u70. There is switch witch is connect to serial port 2. use " cu -s 9600 -l ttyu1" command to configure switch. You can assign ip on the switch and configure everything thru web. You can create vlan for WAN port and use other port for lan. EM0 its connected to port 1.

I am still seeing this. No idea if the specific UPS model has anything to do with it, since the driver is usbhid (which I gather is used for a lot of UPS models). The only log line which seems to me might be relevant is this 0.000836 Checking device (047C/FFFF) (/dev/usb//dev/ugen0.2) That's not an existing path. And as you can see in the first post, while /dev/ugen0.2 is world readable, the device it points to is not. And according to its man page usbhid-ups(8) ignores the "port" setting. So I cannot even correct it. If this was a standard system I would edit devfs.conf(5) and/or devfs.rules(5) to modify the device's permissions and/or ownership... but since afaik it's not possible to do so via web interface I cannot. Thus I must run the thing as root. It's the only way to make the nut daemon acknowledge the UPS which would survive inside the xml configuration file. If anyone could give me some general idea where to look, I can still run tests, since the UPS setup is not exactly in production yet.

@rogeroger At first i purchased the 150 W DC power adapter, but the quality of it were horrendous, after around a year i started having problem with a USB DAC and it turned out it was EMI from that PSU. Got the 192 W one in the link and i haven't had a problem the last seven years. But all you need is a 12 V supply for it, and no it doesn't seem like there is a PSU with it in the link you provided. You could always drop Mini-box a mail and see how much the kit will set you back if they have to send it to, i assume, Canada, if you want to go the PicoPSU route.

Not really. If the value shown never changes at all something is clearly amiss. I'm not sure there's anything you can do about it short of swapping the CPU or motherboard. Steve

Do you need to use the full 100Mbps over OpenVPN? What CPU do plan to use? That does seem over powered though. The SG-1100 or SG-3100 would likely be fine there. Steve

Yeah, use Intel NICs of you can. You can find a PCI card and it will almost certainly be compatible. Of course anything with 32bit PCI slots will be relatively ancient as will the cards to go in it so that reliability is a factor. The SG-1100 is not really comparable as it's a complete ARM SoC. @tman222 There are no additional expansion cards in the system. This is running on bare metal. Keep in mind when I had cable internet (1 gbps / 20 mbps) I achieved 960-980 mbps download under the same configuration. I do not have random id generation enabled. I have tried it with and without hyperthreading. I have also tried it with and without turbo boost. Nothing seems to help. This is why I am leaning towards an incompatibility between the modem and the network card but I am open to ideas and suggestions prior to buying a new NIC. Thanks.

If you can find one that uses a supported driver (I don't think there are any at the moment), then it would almost certainly not reach anywhere near line rate. How close you get depends entirely on the hardware, though. What is your use case? Almost certainly you'd be better off with something geared more toward high performance at that level, like TNSR.

I'll second @provels suggestion - I think the i340-T4 provides great bang for the buck. I bought two of these on Amazon (at different times) over the last year and both have worked great (in fact one of them is currently being used in a pfSense box). https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Ethernet-Adapter-I340-T4-packaging/dp/B003A7LKOU/ If it were me, given the price here and looking at the seller reputation, I'd probably roll the dice on this. But the choice is ultimately is yours. I do recall that one of the i340 I received was actually an OEM IBM version, but again, it has worked just fine. If you are set on 10Gbit NIC's, I'd also take a look at Chelsio cards which are very well supported in pfSense/FreeBSD. One can find good deals on the T520. I've used both the T520-SO-CR and T540-SO-CR with pfSense without any troubles. Hope this helps.
