All SG-2220s are outside warranty at this point.
Does it show anything on the console? Do the NIC LEDs stay on even with nothing connected?

I have to pick it out from the site where it failed but my admin there sent me such info which led me to that old post - I’ll hook it up later and post results - thanks !

got it home finally today, no console output :/ solid green on network cards and solid amber on status led ...

Mmm, almost certainly a hardware failure then unfortunately. The only thing that can be done there is to replace the board. That's not economically viable.

strange they did not publish the workaround which can be done for existing device - exchange program is over for long time already so I guess this is thrash thing now ...

There is no software workaround for that, it's a hardware issue. For SG-2220 there is no hardware fix for it either. Only replacing the board entirely.

Not on the SG-2220. You may have seen hardware 'fixes' for other devices but the required lines are not exposed anywhere that can be used on the 2220. Or the 2440/4860/8860 for reference.
I mean I imagine you could replace the SoC but the required component skills and equipment for that are beyond mine!

The System-on-Chip is the main part of the device. The largest chip under the heatsink.

If the SoC is defect let us imagine, you now thinking it can be replaced by
another SoC that is not faulty, right? But if they are all "faulty" I mean
the whole series of them, what you want to resolder then on the board?Finding peoples or companies that are professionals in SMD soldering
with a hot air canon or a solder bar may be not the real problem, but
getting hands on a SoC (chip) that is not touched by this problem
is the most important thing here. I mean you desolder an Intel Atom
Prozessor C2338 (Rangely) that is defective and you can´t resolder one
