pfSense on Watchguard M370
-
Hi All, Just want to report back that my M470 successfully booted with the 2017 BIOS using a more reliably sourced E3-1260Lv5. So careful where you get your cheap CPUs from. :)
-
I recently picked up two M470s relatively cheap on eBay and installing pfSense was a breeze. I wanted 10Gb networking, and rather than jerry-rig my own solution, I picked up a Lanner module branded as the LANDITEC NCS2-IXM204 and it worked without any issues. Only downside to it is it isn't Watchguard red, lol. They're nice little boxes.

what version of pfSense are you guys using. When using 2.7.2 TUI It seems to only allow using ZFS? Am I missing something?
I am installing from USB on an M370 using putty. After a successful install using ZFS and rebooting and then booting from ada0 (256GB Kingston mstata) pfSense does not boot.
Any help would be appreciated.
-
You should be able to install either ZFS or UFS.
You need to enable the serial port in the installer or it will use the default ports.
How does it fail? Are you sure it's installing to that drive?
-
Yep - enabled serial ports in the installer, and verified it installed to ada0. I will clear the mstata and try again and report back.
