Xbox live on OPT1
-
Hi everyone,
I've been trying to setup xbox live on the OPT1 subnet and have had no luck over the last 3 days.
I've searched the forum also.
LAN: 192.168.1.0 subnet
OPT1: 192.168.2.0 subnet
WAN: external addressHas anyone been successfully with this setup? could you give me some pointers ???
I can setup xbox live no problem on the LAN subnet but not on the OPT1 subnet?
any help would be gratefully appreciated.

What firewall rules do you have on your OPT1 interface?

The rule you have there is correct. Have you tried the xbox network troubleshooter to see where the problem is? Could be that you don't have dhcp service active on OPT 1, or some other thing, but the troubleshooter will give us some clues.

thanks for the input and quick replies.
I misconfigured the OPT1 interface :-[ with a setting of 192.168.2.1/24 instead of 192.168.2.0/24 and when I was selecting DHCP on that interface it was saying I was out of the subnet range I just thought it was only allowing me to use DHCP on one interface or to use it on OPT1 & LAN but to have them all on the same subnet address.
xbox live is down for maintenance for 24 hours, due back up in about 5hours.
I'll keep you posted (fingers crossed)

Heh, of course ;)
As soon as you eliminate your own bugs somebody else will step into the equation with theirs. A few years back I was setting up my first DIY router with QOS. I spent dozens or maybe a hundred hours research, building and fiddling to get it to work. I finally got it up and running the way I wanted and it started dropping all kinds of packets. I was ready to fall over. I spent a few more hours double-checking my work and finally figured out I had a bad nic. I replaced it and everything worked perfectly! You can't imagine my relief.

further inspection ….......
the subnets were all wrong also so the DHCP wasnt able to assign IP's to OPT1 was on another network instead of just another subnet, I modified it to....
network 192.168.1.0/25
LAN 192.168.1.1/25 subnet host
OPT1 192.168.1.128/25 subnet host
subnet mask: 255.255.255.128which mean they are on different subnets but same network now.
tested xbox live and everything is brill!!! ;D
thank again for the input without it I wouldn't have been looking in the right areas ;)
