Can't control serial console
-
Hello!
I've got the following message at serial console:
Warning: no access to tty (Inappropriate ioctl for device).
Thus no job control in this shell. And if I make a top command or ping command at shell it is impossible to stop it.
I'm using PuTTY (Windows version) with a null-modem cable.
Is there any special configuration for serial connection? It is my first time I use it.

Hello!
The problem doesn't happen for hard disk intallation. It seems is related to Embedded version.
Serial console works perfectlly for hardisk installation.

Platform pfSenseIn fact, better than VGA and keyboard! Spanish keyboards (and other international keyboards) have different layout. With serial console it is the client (in my case PuTTY) who controls the layout. Size of characters are also smaller, so the serial console looks like a SSH connection. Wonderful!

I have also seen those errors on 1.2.x embedded installs, I'm not sure there is a way around them there.
That said, they do not happen on 2.0 installs so apparently they have been corrected in the next major version.
I'm not sure if there an easy fix for that, but you can always open a bug report at http://redmine.pfsense.org/

It doesn't appear to respond to the break sequence. Top can be exited with q, but if you use ping without -c, there doesn't seem to be away to stop it.
