No, you want a Host alias for just that one system.

This brings up another question, once she is smart enough to just set a static ip to her devices how do I keep them to the schedule I have set?  I have a schedule setup, alias setup, dhcp server to give same ip to her devices and firewall rules setup to allow during schedule time and block any other time, but that is by ip address correct?  No way to set this by mac address?

Nope.  Put them on a separate VLAN/Interface and limit the whole subnet.

Besides, if she's savvy enough to set a static IP she's savvy enough to spoof a MAC address.

A comprehensive network diagram is worth 10,000 words and 15 conference calls.
DO NOT set a source address/port in a port forward or firewall rule unless you KNOW you need it!

How do I set up a vlan for just 2 devices, just her ipad and pc (soon to be laptop for a 3rd)?

                thanks again!

2 devices or 200. It's all the same.

Please do a search first. I really don't feel like repeating what's been said countless times.

It's impossible to create a how-to for everyone because every network is different.

                          wikipedia VLAN.
