NEW SG-3100 CRASHED HARD AND CAN NOT REINSTALL 2.4.3
-
Yeah. Be sure you are using the right image and have your serial console set to 115200.
You might have to reset that console by closing and reopening putty.
This is the USB reinstall image you want for the SG-3100:
https://portal.pfsense.org/firmware/sg-3100/pfSense-netgate-SG-3100-recover-2.4.3-RELEASE-p1-armv6.img.gz
Recovery instructions are here:

@derelict when I click on that first link I get this message (Access Denied
You have no access to Folder SG-3100 Firmware (https://portal.pfsense.org/firmware/sg-3100). Visit order page to order additional subscriptions.)
I am also a gold member and logged in and I have followed the reinstall directions with no luck. -
You need to have registered your SG-3100 here:

Thanks derelict I am giving up for the night. I am sure I will get it worked out but its a little disappointing I bought setup off ebay for a 100 bucks with pfsense that served me well for 5 years and my new SG-3100 that cost me over 400 bucks from the official company has already giving me more headaches the the other model ever did as for now my small business is working behind a 30 dollar router I bought from Walmarts.
-
@derelict I did try the reinstall https://www.netgate.com/docs/pfsense/solutions/sg-3100/reinstall-pfsense.html with no luck I probably am not formatting my thumb drive right or something. When ever I install the latest version PFsense I always like to do a clean install I hope the rest of them go smoother then this. Dave

Use https://etcher.io/ to write your flash drive, though any procedure you are currently having success with should work fine.
The procedure for the SG-3100 is different than you might be used to. As I said it's a completely new architecture (ARM).

Note the part about stopping the boot process and using
run recovery

@derelict I downloaded https://www.netgate.com/docs/pfsense/solutions/sg-3100/reinstall-pfsense.html uncompressed it with 7-zip used https://etcher.io/ to write the uncompressed file to my flash drive and I get the same message on putty when it boots up with the thumb drive attached. I attached the picture also none of the lights are on in front

You don't need to uncompress before you write with etcher but it also should not hurt.
That still looks like the wrong serial settings in Putty.
Speed: 115200
Parity: N
Bits: 8
Stop bits: 1And, when you have the wrong speed set or some other serial anomaly, it is possible the "funky" characters can put the terminal in a weird state so it is important to reset it by closing/restarting or something.

@derelict said in NEW SG-3100 CRASHED HARD AND CAN NOT REINSTALL 2.4.3:
Speed: 115200

Stop bits: 1are the settings I have and just tried rebooting with the file flash and uncompressed with no luck I am ready to send it back to netgate
