Do you see anything in the system log when you connect a USB 1/2 device?

      For example:

      Aug 28 11:27:18 kernel ugen1.2: <Lexar JumpDrive> at usbus1
      Aug 28 11:27:18 kernel umass0 on uhub1
      Aug 28 11:27:18 kernel umass0: <Lexar JumpDrive, class 0/0, rev 2.00/11.00, addr 1> on usbus1
      Aug 28 11:27:18 kernel da0 at umass-sim0 bus 0 scbus2 target 0 lun 0
      Aug 28 11:27:18 kernel da0: <Lexar JumpDrive 1100> Removable Direct Access SPC-2 SCSI device
      Aug 28 11:27:18 kernel da0: Serial Number AASUAZTVUUOJ2GNS
      Aug 28 11:27:18 kernel da0: 40.000MB/s transfers
      Aug 28 11:27:18 kernel da0: 7512MB (15384576 512 byte sectors)
      Aug 28 11:27:18 kernel da0: quirks=0x2<NO_6_BYTE>

Nope. Nada. Only when i connect a USB 3.0 device. It's like the hardware doesn't see it at all.

Hmm, that's odd. Do you have a list of devices you've tried in more detail? We might have one we can try to replicate it with.

What were you trying to do when you discovered this? Is it preventing you from doing that?

Originally, I was attempting to connect a UPS device via USB. After numerous troubleshooting steps, I realized that nothing USB was being detected at all, except the 1 USB 3.0 memory stick that I have.

I'll attach the entire startup log (via serial console). This is with a USB 2.0 memstick inserted. As you can see from the log, the hardware doesn't see it at all.

              @msf2000 What make/model is the Motherboard/System?

I'm going to guess (if this is a "desktop/server" type system that Legacy USB, or some other USB settings are not enabled in BIOS/UEFI

Hmm, that file does not look like a boot log when I open it.
You should see something in the system log though even if the device is not recognised.

When I open that log file I see only Chinese characters, I assume you do not see that?

If that's what you're also seeing then we need to check how you're getting that file as it's clearly booting correctly and should be outputting that.

I don't see any Chinese characters in that log file. It's a capture from Putty over a serial connection. Please try to open it with an UTF-8 compatible editor.

Hmm weird. As you say opened in a different editor, though it complained about the characters.

Anyway the only unusual thing I see there is that the console menu is not shown. I assume you have set that as password protected?

One thing you could try here is to interrupt uboot to reach the Marvell>> prompt where it says Hit any key to stop autoboot: and then check to see if uboot can see any usb2 devices.

                              Marvell>> usb start
                              (Re)start USB...

Finally got a chance to do your test... Unfortunately, usb start does not recognize any usb 2.0 devices. If i put a usb 3.0 memory stick and run usb restart, it see that. But then any usb 2.0 device and running usb restart, it sees nothing. Seems like the chipset is faulty.
