With my Qotom i5 firewall also a 100% CPU usage from pkg-static. I can't update the box.
I did a reinstall and then found this thread... :(PowerD is running the Minimum setting. On adaptive the CPU reached 90c. Now the temperature is around 50c

@kweetwel To avoid high CPU utilization and temperature first go to System -> Update -> Update settings and check "Disable the Dashboard auto-update check". Then reboot the firewall and pkg-static is not going to start. Remember to re-enable it when the repo problem is fixed.

@sotirone Thanks for the tip. Already did it. The only thing is, that the process still was restarting after I killed it. The temps are under control at the moment, so I'm a little less stressed. :)

We are running pfsense 2.4.4-RELEASE-p2, the same problem occurred today.
-
Same problem here on 2 boxes, since 1PM London time. Unacceptable if pfSense is being offered a commercial product under the Netgate brand.
-
It would be nice to hear a reply from pfsense about this problem.
-
Disable the dashboard automatic update check, the process will disappear after some time (max ~1 hour). No reboot or anything is required.
I'm sure the Devs will fix this issue in future.
Shit happens sometimes...months ago I had some 30.000 € HP BTO Server dead on arrival.-Rico

Thank you for your reply. But it would be also nice to see this kind of messages in the section of "Message from the pfSense team"".

This appears to have been resolved.

We are still experiencing this issue. I have checked "Dashboard check - Disable the Dashboard auto-update check". Maybe it is because of it?
-
It began to work now.
