SG-3100 reset

Hi all.
I'm taking over for another company and they left no login credentials. I need to either reset the unit back to factory settings or reset the login credentials. I tried using the reset pin on the back multiple times without success.
I also need to setup static ip on it. I understand how to do this with my own PFsense Dell workstation box but looking for some guidance on how to do it with a Netgate hardware applicance.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

@Rico Do I need a specific type of mini usb cable?

@packergeek It helps to have the Netgate USB console cable, but I don't think it's 100% necessary. Should be a normal USB A to USB Mini B, like you said. I don't think the pinouts on either end are any special.

@akuma1x Ok so there's really nothing unique about it? I just want to make sure because I have ran into issues with serial console cables in the past that had to be a certain type.

@packergeek I've used one from Netgate religiously, until... I misplaced it. I'm using one now from a USB 2 hub, and it works fine. So, like I said, I don't think Netgate uses any special pinouts on their console cables.
Maybe a mod can jump in here, or one of the Netgate engineers, just to confirm this.

It is just a USB cable. Same with Cisco. You can carry the same cable to access either though the chipsets might require different drivers.

@rico I know this is an old topic.
But the link for recovery has the user install a driver for CP210x, which is a serial to/from USB converter. We use them to program microcontrollers all the time. Sometimes the chip is on-board, but smaller devices lack the chip, so we end u using cables or interface boards with this chip on/in them.
The Netgate-supplied one seems, from the docs, to not be a cable with the chip inside (usually at the USB side. It appears to be a 'plain' cable. This means the CP210x chip is on the other side of the Mini-USB connector on he case.

@bogusexception The thing I see most often is using a bad, or failing, mini-USB cable.
The 3100 uses mini-USB, the 1100/1000 use micro-USB. The requirement is that it passes data as well as power for these models.
