be honest are you worried about corona

@Gertjan said in be honest are you worried about corona:
elf : if you 'stay home', that is : STOP all contact with any person (go live in the forest all by yourself for a year or so) I'm more then sure that anything can happen. But
Got you, I'll try not to speak about politics.. it's already difficult to speak about science and mathematics.
I hate to say but the statistic died, no body cares for it anymore, numbers are no longer numbers, diseases are now only covid, and work for what ? Money falls from the sky and we can stay home for ever..Wash your hands and stay home, stay safe, and you will see the numbers of people that are already dying without anything to eat

Exact ! I'm quiet convinced politician won't contribute much, except maybe applying massive aids for those who had no choice of staying home and loose revenue - and reviewing the universal minimum medical coverage ;) I understand that these two are or logical choices, and could be considered as 'political' decisions in some countries.
@mcury said in be honest are you worried about corona:

These statistics, as Facebook, to name just one, was invented a couple of decades ago. Humanity was going just fine before, as soon as you accept that living on earth isn't what one would find in heaven.
@mcury said in be honest are you worried about corona:
diseases are now only covid
Yep, this 1% to 3 % is now know as 'bigger' as the other 99% to 97 % (other death reasons). It's the media that tries to learn you to do the new math ;) Don't fall into that pitfall !
@mcury said in be honest are you worried about corona:
Money falls from the sky
Check you bank account, and the one of the company (family, whatever) you work for : we all pay taxes
If our (a) government wasn't doing so, they would have to deal with a civil national war, as a herd of hungry people will makes a lot of fuss real quickly. That's bad for internal and external economy.@mcury said in be honest are you worried about corona:
Wash your hands and stay home,
My work already mentioned 'washing hands' in my work contract, drafted in 1990. For other - but related - reasons.
I wasn't 'informed' to stay at home, as my work only stop if the society stops.@mcury said in be honest are you worried about corona:
... to eat
That's why I think that all humanity should try to make 'this place' a better place. Using positive efforts. As soon as you notice you have the possibility to do some good for your surrounding, do so.
-
@Gertjan Well, there is nothing I can say to you..
I can speak about me, and I won't change my behavior, I won't accept the "new normal", and I will work not only because I need to, it's because I don't rely any hope in anyone, state or whatever.
I have two legs, and with them I go outside.. :) -

“Where all think alike, no one thinks very much.”
I think everyone thinks hard, but it smells politically strongly... = COVID regulation by country
my question is where was the COVID until september 1???????????
(did he / she vacation all summer?)he / she certainly didn’t fry his belly in the sun, because I was in the room - ......and I watched the beach from the window
so who they want to mislead....????
otherwise the whole world is irresponsible when it comes to who and how to spend their free time...
where is the social distance keeping.... during the summer??? hmmmm
just watch the china values!https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

+++edit:
Yeah and don’t forget, this world is driven by money, not sobriety and intelligence -

(did he / she vacation all summer?)Possibly. Graph from 1918 flu pandemic (US).

Jeah, jeah, they really just screened a series called "virus" on NAT GEO, I think 4 - 5 parts, I'm really in the picture...
you should also know that there was still cohesion among the peoples of the world at that time
just watch the example of smallpox -
@provels I too am retired, so am not required to go out every day. Because of my age I and my wife are at risk of complications of COVID-19. Even if I/we survived infection the lasting effects could basically render the rest of our lives a waste due to heart and lung damage.
I am taking this very seriously by making even limited social contact with almost no one outside my house.
I live in a US state (VT) that is doing an extremely good job at controlling the virus. Our governor and commissioner of health along with other state officials rely on data and science and to a lesser extent economics to make decisions about how to proceed. We have opened up much of our economy including schools and colleges with little change in virus levels. However, states surrounding us all have higher rates of infection so we are watching this closely.
Stay healthy everyone...

I am also very worried.. But i just hope that its get better some day...
In Germany there is a second wave incoming... hopefully it gets under control soon enough.
Stay save everybody
-
Second (third?) wave well underway here in USA. 120,000 cases per day, a million cases in TX. Reefer trucks being used as morgues in El Paso, TX.
"Just noticed my original bookmark for www.worldometers.info worldwide data...
"Coronavirus Update (Live): 73,438 Cases and 1,875 Deaths from COVID-19 Wuhan China Virus Outbreak - Worldometer"
Worldwide. How quaint. And here were told it would go away after November 3rd.
-
@provels You just can't make this stuff up. The claims would almost be funny, in a willfully stupid kind of way, if it didn't represent dead people. Pence, chairman of the virus task force, was going to go on vacation. He canceled it. Not to attend to the virus but to attend to the farce election fraud claims. Still not laughing...

Alec Baldwin is refusing to leave Saturday Night Live. Now laughing.

@jwj
You made me laugh and woke my dog! -
And we're back to the serious side.

avoid gathering, it's not too scary

I am, personally, more worried about authoritarian government overreach than I am about the 'rona.
But, admittedly, you could
s/the 'rona/pretty much anything/
.This is just the latest boogeyman. "Never let a crisis go to waste."
That graph is meaningless without knowing how many tests were conducted to arrive at those numbers.
15 days to slow the spread.
-
@Derelict said in be honest are you worried about corona:
That graph is meaningless without knowing how many tests were conducted to arrive at those numbers.
Positivity is around 10%, so about 10x.
-
Around?
Positivity rates, hospitalization rates, death rates.
Number of cases is meaningless.
And everyone is going to get it one way or another. Might as well live life.

Bets are open : will the Dragon capsule come back empty ? ;)
