How get Squid + SquidGuard to clear Client Browser Cache
-
Hi All,
I have deployed a pfSense firewall and also installed and configured Squid Proxy and SquidGuard Proxy filter to use the pfSense firewall as a proxy server. The configuration of the proxy server and the proxy filter is working as expected and the denied URL's are being blocked successfully. But when allowing any of those blocked URL's or disabling restriction rules the specific domains are URL's are still blocked from the clients browser.
In order to get the client browser to access the previously blocked domains and URL's I have to clear the browser cache. Is there a way to get the pfSense squid proxy to force the cache to be cleared on the web browser side. Or can be reduce the time which it takes the cache to be refreshed?
Your help is much appreciated.
Thank you in advance,

No, the proxy cannot force any action in the web client like that as far as I know.
I've been running squid/squidguard for years and I've never seen that behaviour. Are you running your squidguard rules on a schedule, or are you making manual changes to an ACL?

Hi Kom,
Thank you for the quick reply.
No I am not running squidguard rules on a scheduler as far as I know. (If you have any reference links to this please share Thank you in advance :)). Yes I make manual changes to the ACL.

When you make your changes, do you remember to go back to the General settings tab and click Apply? If you don't do that, your changes will not take effect.
