SG-4860: Tried to update to new PFSense version. Now status LED red
-
Hi everyone,
I tried to update PFSense on a SG-4860 for the first time. I did it through Auto Update. It said that it would update from 2.2.6 to 2.3.5.
After I started the update I was not able to contact it anymore. The Status LED is red and after a while it just shuts off. When connecting with Putty through USB/Serial I only get a black screen.
Is it bricked? I heard something about an Atom-bug in the BIOS?Best Regards

Contact Netgate support.

I'll quote from another thread about a misbehaving SG-2220 box:
Please open a ticket with our support team at https://go.netgate.com
Include the Serial number of the device for a faster response.

Thank you for your reply. I already tried to create a ticket a week ago, but yesterday I got a statement that it was resolved, but no one has answered anything or provided me with any solution, so then I thought that I would try here instead. I have not payed for any additional support to Netgate, and I bought it a couple of years ago.
Best Regards

That's not what I would like to hear, What is your ticket number?

bought it a couple of years ago.
Since its on 2.2.6, which came out in 2015 I would say its a bit over a "couple" of years ;)

The ticket number: INC-25610

Ahh yes, I see it.
The serial number you sent over to us didn't match what we have in the system. Azamat asked for a bit more information.
Can you take a picture of the bar code and reply back to that ticket? We should be able to find it from that.

Yes, it is a little old, I know. I looked now and it was installed in february 2016.

They still offer support for that unit, especially, I believe, hardware support.
See here for the product lifecycle info:

Thank you Chris, yes I saw now that the serial-number was not right. Now I have edited it to the right one.
-
I didn't mean to suggest they wouldn't help - just pointing out his estimate of "couple" was a bit off ;) hehehehe
-
I have updated your ticket.
Please let reply back on the ticket if you have any questions.
-
So what is the status here? Us curious minds want to know ;)
Is he going to RMA the device. Does he need to just reinstall? What?
-
What happens on our tickets is between us and them.

Completely agree - was hoping the OP would share..
