      Been having weird bug errors for the past year with opening the web gui on windows and pfsense suddenly dropping all Layer 3 traffic and above (arp still intact).
      Its not fully repeatable, but basically if I open a new session on windows in any browser to the pfsense web gui, suddenly all traffic (besides arp) gets dropped at pfsense. Confirmed this with a pcap on pfsense confirmed one moment its allowing traffic, then suddenly dropping every single packet. Every time this happens no matter what I do on pfsense (interface up and down, restart several services) I can't recover without a full system restart.

      I think I have finally narrowed it down to this nginx error that appeared the moment I pressed continue on the "proceed anyway" in my browser and all my traffic started getting dropped.

      2021/07/02 21:50:26 [alert] 34438#100147: *65 peer closed connection in SSL handshake (13: Permission denied) while SSL handshaking, client: IP, server: 0.0.0.0:443

      Can't seem to find any one online with a similar error, specifically in the 13: Permission denied part. I haven't even logged into pfsense and its saying permission denied?

      Can anyone elaborate on this error?

        Just had the same symptons yet again, but with a slightly different error.

        Jul 6 17:22:30 nginx 2021/07/06 17:22:30 [crit] 12149#100205: *772 SSL_write() failed (13: Permission denied) while processing HTTP/2 connection, client: IP, server: 0.0.0.0:443

        This happened while I was logged into the gui, hadn't made any changes yet, but was just looking around.

        As always, the connection to the gui dies, then my computer can no longer get to the internet. After reboot, (probably rebooting the web gui) resolves the issue.

        At this point I believe this is a bug in the pfsense web software.
