      I downloaded the pfSense 1.23VM image and converted it with VMware Converter to put it on my home's ESXi installation.  I assume the image was created for VMware Server or Workstation since it was in the vmx/vmdk format, and ESX has some other capabilities.

      1. What exactly does the open source VMtools allow me to do?

      2. What is the preferred NIC type to use in ESX, considering it has these Openvmtools?  Flexible?  e1000?

        i use e1000 for compatibility across all platforms
