Could be updated to show that there is a 2.2 branch now, and master is for future versions… -
How about something easier to maintain, yet still useful like:
For a summary of changes, see the individual release notes under [pfSense Release Versions]
A [log of the latest commits is visible on github] on the master branch. You can also view current and previous branches where RELENG refers to the corresponding version number.

Yes, whatever describes the system without it going out-of-date when every particular branch is added.

I reworded it a little, makes it easier to maintain now. We already have a page that lists all the branches, may as well link to that.
