I am seeing that the gateway status is stuck at pending after a reboot. I have to manually cycle/restart the openvpn service and then everything works. any ideas? I am now on 2.2.5 seeing the same behaviour.

I have "State Killing on GW failure" and "Skip Rules when GW is down" checked.

During this "pending" phase the traffic doesn't get through the VPN gateway, but the normal WAN_GW works okay. on restarting the VPN service all seems to be okay

Probably same root cause as https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/4587

I'll be looking at that after we replace apinger in 2.3.
