Yup, looks that way. So collect some panic strings and backtraces to confirm they are the same, a software problem.

The confirms it's a not a hardware issue at least. Which makes sense since the WPA auth should all be in software.

Yup iwlwifi can only be a client currently.

The only WIFI NIC I know of that works in the 2100 is the WLE200NX. Most are simply not recognised though.

@Ehall_Pass_Pro maybe by implementing FreeRadius using a unique barcode / QR code on the hall pass as the ID and using radius on the SSID. In FreeRadius you could also limit the number of simultaneous connections to 1. You'd just then need to enable / disable the firewall rules associated to the SSID based on the time period.
