    The only WIFI NIC I know of that works in the 2100 is the WLE200NX. Most are simply not recognised though.

    @Ehall_Pass_Pro maybe by implementing FreeRadius using a unique barcode / QR code on the hall pass as the ID and using radius on the SSID.

    In FreeRadius you could also limit the number of simultaneous connections to 1.

    You'd just then need to enable / disable the firewall rules associated to the SSID based on the time period.

    (WLE600vx)

    I don't expect that work, that's also a .AC NIC.

    What are you using that in?

    Is that only at the initial connection? Or when it rekeys?

    Mmm, it won't be an easy config conversion but you would at least get current code, security fixes etc.

    And, yes, the ALIX was/is pretty much indestructible!

    @stephenw10

    Thank you for your reply.

    I've purchased GW-R86S-T3 to replace my aging hardware since I'll be getting fiber internet soon and old hardware would not be abble to handle it.

    I used Wi-Fi card in my old box as a client to connect to my next door neighbour's AP with whom I have an agreement, to connect to his Wi-Fi in case my main ISP is down.
    Esentialy, Wi-Fi acts as a fail-over WAN automatically switching as needed.

    I was hoping to replicate the same setup with new hardware. Hopefully, my current hardware will get some support with some future version of pfSense.

    How are the VLANs configured in pfSense?

    We might need a diagram here.

    This doesn't seem like a Wireless question directly.

    @nemtsov

    Yes, your screen captures show it is not getting an IP

    However, when the broadcast goes out on the wan - what is it (em0) virtually connected to ?
    show the section of the VirtualBox settings similar to that I am showing above. the adapters.

    Then ask yourself is there a DHCP Server on that Adapter that can answer the call.
    if nothing is seeing the broadcast, nothing can answer = No IP

    Even with the pfSense box started and from the screen shown, you should be able to connect to the pfsense web interface from a machine in the virtual network 192.168.1. /24
    That won't be an issue.

    What IP range is the host machine in?

    Wireless client isolation is a layer 2 function on the access point itself.
