the system now does not allow web GUI access and now i want to reset it using the reset button.

The reset button reboots the device rather than reload a vanilla config.
Use the USB console for access to the device's console and perform operations like "reset to factory defaults" from there.

BTW: where can someone "just get two sg-1100" kind of accidentally? Mind putting me on that list as well, please? 🎅

Its not some soho $20 wifi router ;)

What rules could you have been doing.. The antilock rule is there to prevent users from shooting themselves in the foot for that very reason.

I would highly suggest you read the manual linked to before randomly clicking shit ;)

Correct - it's only an espresso.bin on steroids 😜 (and missing the WiFi).

Yes, if you need to reset it to factory defaults and cannot access the GUI (or SSH) then use the serial console.
            https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/sg-1100/connect-to-console.html

Once connected there you will see the console menu which has an option to reset to default settings.

I would like to know to even after resetting the SG-1100, the config or residue files of PfBlockerNG remains in the system and not getting fully deleted. I want the factory reset to give a clean reset.

To fully factory restore the SG-1100 reinstall the firmware:

@stephenw10 Do you need to purchase support in order to access the factory installer image?

                        No.

There is no need to purchase support for access to the image files.
