I would only like to allow https://www.duckduckgo.com (DDG) on my internal network. Users entering URL for other search engines should be all redirected to the DDG URL. In other words, any of the following URLs should be redirected to DDG: www.google.com, www.bing.com, www.yahoo.com, etc. How can I accomplish that? Thank you!

Squidguard has a rewrite feature to replace URLs but I've never used it.

I can't imagine why you would want to control which search engines the users on your network use. Why does it matter?

@KOM said in URL Redirect for Search Engines:

        Why does it matter?

Probably because https://duckduckgo.com/ => see top right corner.

@KOM I've tried SquidGuard/Rewrites, but it doesn't seem to work.
Times we're living in, our Privacy is constantly being attacked from ISP to Search Engines to other platforms like FB etc.
Search engines are a major concern since most Internet queries originate from searching from a browser. Most of them track sites, behaviors, etc. Though, some less than others. Out of all major search engines, DDG is the one I trust the most.

Yes, I understand the value of DDG as I use it myself. My question was, why are you forcing others to follow your preference in search engines? That's usually a personal thing, and I wouldn't like my choices being overridden by someone else, no matter how benevolent their intentions were.

@KOM Old topic, but here's my take...."Other" users are family members that are minors. As the head of the household, I prefer to enforce safe & privacy practices.

if you have control over those devices:

                https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/cache-proxy/wpad-autoconfigure-for-squid.html#setting-up-wpad-autoconfigure-for-the-squid-package

or you can start messing with fake ssl certificates todo this transparently ... but thats messy
