I am considering to build a pfSense Plus Router based on Intel Atom platform.

It seems that the latest Snow Ridge P5300 is not ready to use in FreeBSD 14.
To instead, the Netgate 6100 might be a good choice. However, I am not familiar with Netgate Hardware. I would like to know more details.

      1. Can I upgrade ECC RAM and change storage in Netgate 6100?
      2. Are the SFP+ port separated interface?
      3. Can I assign the SFP+ as LAN?
      4. Can I add VLAN in the SFP+ interface?

No, it’s 8Gb soldered onto the MB. But 8Gb is A LOT with pfSense :-)

        1. Are the SFP+ port separated interface?

        Yes

        1. Can I assign the SFP+ as LAN?

        Yes

        1. Can I add VLAN in the SFP+ interface?

        Yes

Love the no fuss of using the official appliances :-)

That's funny because we released 23.01 running on FreeBSD 14.

@testcb00 the 6100 has a Max version with an SSD: https://shop.netgate.com/collections/desktop-appliances/products/6100-max-pfsense

Required/recommended for some packages with lots of logging: https://www.netgate.com/supported-pfsense-plus-packages

Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, and device or disk speed.
