    Hi
I have deployed multiple 4200 devices. I happen to have an 1100 I would like consider as a spare at one of my sites in case one of the 4200 devices dies. Given the physical ports are different, is it possible to take the 4200 config file and map it to the 1100? Or is this a fools errand and I should just consider something else, i.e. 2100 or just stick with 4200? TIA.

@scruzuser Netgate TAC will convert the config file for you for free.

Otherwise yes it’s possible. When restoring you are asked to assign interfaces. There is a pitfall or two there, or was…IIRC you must click Save before Apply.

The 1100 uses VLANs to separate the ports so keep the VLAN/switch config.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.
