    Re: No backups listed (auto-backup of configuration)

    If so, (when the drive dies it takes the key with it) then only local backups saved are useful if (when) a drive goes south correct?

    I had not thought about that, and stopped taking local backups since setting ACB up. So I'm nearing 5 months out of date.

    eMMC failure on a 4100, added the M.2 NVMe drive. Restored a local backup.

    Am I correct in assuming the visible key is a "new" key ?

      @mudmanc4 First off, I/we don’t use it.

      You’re supposed to save the key: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/backup/acb-config.html#device-key

      Check your configuration file to see if it’s in there, probably encoded. I can see reasons why it wouldn’t be, like restoring a backup router.

      Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
      When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

        Thanks for the reply Steve

        Saving the key is clearly stated, which I did not do.

        I assumed restoring a local backup would have said information.

        However, looking through the config file, I see the password is saved in plain text.

          We may be able to recover the old key if you send me the NDI or hint in chat.
