    Hi there.

    I have freedns.afraid.org dynamic dns service working in my dd-wrt that it's being used as an AP and switch.

    I'm trying to migrate all my services to the my pfsense gateway. There's a lot of good howto's, tutorials, faqs and documentation in the pfsense.org website and others but I couldn't find a good/consistant one about the freedns.afraid.org service setup in pfsense.

    Can someone give me a step by step help? I already tried to setup but it's not updating correctly. Maybe I'm missing some parameters.

    Thanks in advance.

      search the forum its been answered, anyway heres an answer:
      go here http://freedns.afraid.org/dynamic/ and then copy the direct url for the domain you want, paste that url anywhere, then copy everything after the ? and before the ==, this is your key in freedns and your hostname in pf
      example update string:
      http://freedns.afraid.org/dynamic/update.php?dfgdsgfsdjk689GYUIFdfg==
      this is what you want to paste in the hostname in pf: dfgdsgfsdjk689GYUIFdfg

        So, should I fill it this way?

        Service type: freedns
        Hostname: string
        username: username
        password: password

        For example, in dd-wrt the hostname is filled with: blabla.bleble.com,string

        Should I just put the string or put it like I do in dd-wrt?

          when you go here: http://freedns.afraid.org/dynamic/
          under dynamic update candidates you will have this:

          hostename Direct URL | Wget Script | Edit Record IP

          direct url is what you want, as i said before, copy that link, paste in wordpad and then copy everything between ? and ==, thats what you will put in for the hostname

          example update string:
          http://freedns.afraid.org/dynamic/update.php?dfgdsgfsdjk689GYUIFdfg==
          this is what you want to paste in the hostname in pf: dfgdsgfsdjk689GYUIFdfg

          Service type: freedns
          Hostname: from the update string above paste everything after the ? and before == in this example: dfgdsgfsdjk689GYUIFdfg
          username: username
          password: password
