Add Zero configuration networking features

You mean like, avahi and DHCP? ???
-
I don't know if its Avahi, but Avahi doesn't work.

None of those are fatal avahi errors.
most often a failover of avahi is from setting the wrong domain in its settings.

Please add Zero configuration networking features.
For clients with fixed/static IP Address and proxy settings. You're talking about functionality like Nomadix's "Any IP". It's absurdly stupid anyone wants that stuff anymore, no one has statically addressed laptops in 10+ years. Proxy functionality uses auto-detect almost always as well. What you're referring to is patented stuff that Nomadix is suing everyone under the sun for, we won't be implementing those things.

Here in our country many big companies still addressing laptops and manual proxy settings. My problem on most of them I cannot change it to automatically because of administrator restriction.
Yes, like in Nomadix, I don't know if its patented by Nomadix or not but there are so many Hotspot Gateway have this functionality like 24online, inngate, handlink, zyxel, guestgate, pheenet, etc.
So sad it will not be implemented :(
Thank you very much for replying. -

Seriously? 1992 called and it wants its technology back.
Yes unfortunately that is functionality that everyone who has it is being sued over, and we don't have millions of dollars to fight a lawsuit, so we won't be implementing it.

Which country are you in ? And does anyone have some idea how widespread this -bad- practice actually is ?

Have you actually deployed any of those devices in production? And which of their features (apart from the aforementioned "Any IP") did you find useful for possible inclusion in pfsense's CP ?
Based on a quick examination of these products' feature-list PDFs, I find some of their anti-DOS / anti-abuse features interesting.

Yes, I already tested it in production. The ZeroConfig feature attract me most.
PFSense still the best -

We work with companies in over 30 countries on 6 continents, and I've never heard of anywhere that actually does this in the past decade outside of this thread. His IP is in the Philippines.
