Decimal point error on gateway status?
-
was seeing intermittant net issues on my connection this morning (latest 2.1 snapshot) and in my process of troubleshooting i got this on my gateway page
yes thats a ping 3296.9 (3 seconds)
just to check i pinged from my local machine and from my firewall and both came back with pings of around the 32-34ms range
wonder if a decimal point got moved by accident or the result multiplied by 100 by accident?

Nope not possible. You actually had 3s delay.
Beaware that is aggregate result and measured after 10 packets sent. -
I have sites with only 256kbps links. If I start a download using a download manager that creates a bunch of parallel download threads, I can easily saturate a link and get ping times of 3, 4 and 5 seconds. Your number look reasonable to me! The "apinger" that does this monitoring gives a rolling average, so it takes some time to go back to normal after the link comes good again. (I have to adjust my gateway monitoring parameters to prevent the system from wanting to failover away from a saturated, but working, gateway.)

yeah its fine now - isp actually did have an issue but were not acknowledging/aware of it
