Forum upgraded to SMF 2.x
-
Looks good so far… :)
-
Other than the weird ad for shoes and clothes that made it to first on the list in comments after the upgrade, everything looks great.
-
Thanks. Looks good and seems to be faster.
Default font size in this Post reply text box is pretty big.
Any chance the Ignore Boards option could be turned on?
-
Nice.
I agree the font size seems a bit big but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I just have to retrain my muscle memory to click 'unread replies' top right instead of top left. ::)Steve

That's exactly what I thought first, too! ;)

One further thing I've noticed is that there is no immediate visual difference between posts I've read and those that I haven't. In the SMF 1.X threads with new posts were shown as bold until I read them. This makes it very easy to overlook any new questions.

Functionally, the only thing I've noticed so far is that I can't tell who is lurking on a thread, and the larger font etc. There might be something happening under the hood that makes life easier for the admins. Not sure. It works. I like simple not too jazzed up things. Suits me.

Unread threads have an orange "New" icon, though the bold title was better.
-
Can you please change the CSS to make the font in (quick)reply textarea smaller? It's really annoying. Should be the quickReplyContent and editor classes.

Should be fixed now

The new threads as bold should be working again (hopefully without any side effects :-)

This should be back now, too.

Also, if possible, more contrasted between background and topic table. Maybe border ?

Not sure I follow on that one. Where exactly? Can you post a screenshot with the area highlighted?
Anywhere I can see that lists topics is already fairly well contrasted (white or very light grey background with dark red text)
-
Love it! Thank you guys!

Mani page looks good. May be would like to continue like this.
-
And +
( In some cheap Acer monitors that's look as mono field with background panel )
-
I'm not seeing any contrast issues on any of those, they're all pretty well-differentiated light/dark. Which exact part of the screen are you suggesting should be modified? (circle it in the pic)

It seems to me to make a few darker border as main page.
-
Sounds more like you need to replace the broken monitor or stop setting it to 150% brightness.
-
Better now?
-
Not sure if it's only me but when looking through the unread threads I always focus on the username which is in bold but not on the thread title which is not bold. Should be the way around I think.

You mean the "started by" part?
How does it look now? Just the title should be bold now.

Hmm, deleted all brwoser cache from Firefox 23.0.1 and still the same.

"Recent unread topics" are all unread. I'm talking about the actual list of posts in a specific board.
-
One suggestion to help vs forum spammers, is to try ZB Block.
We had big problems with spammers on our students forum, and now it have stopped about 12.000 in 3 months and no new spammers have been able to register :)
Otherwise like the new layout, seems faster for me… and looking forward to pfSense 2.1 ;)
Regards.

That's working!
But not on unread posts since last visit. I am not sure if I really understand. Couldn't it be look the same as in the screenshot you posted? Of course "read" posts are not bold and of course not listed in "unread posts since last visit"
-
We had Stop Forum Spam on the old version and it worked really, really well. I'm not sure what we'll do now, but I've already had to stomp on a couple spammers today.
We're also looking on enabling HTTPS, a "thanks" system, and tapatalk as time allows.

No, if you look at a list of all unread posts, they are all unread, it wouldn't make sense to bold them all there, since they could never be normal on that link/list. The username being bold isn't because it's unread on that list
There may be a way to "unbold" the username there but it doesn't appear to be quite so easy as the changes I already made. If I stumble onto the fix I may make it, but it doesn't seem like it's worth spending a bunch of time on.

OK, thanks. I understand what you mean, now. But something bold focuses my eyes and the thread titel is more important to me than the username. And it would make it consitent to the other views in the forum like you showed in your picture.
That's just my opinion. :D
"Tahnk's" system sounds good. Is this something to say "Thank you" for a specific post? This would make it possible to faster find posts which are really helpful :)
-
OK nevermind it was easier to find than I initially thought to unbold the usernames.
But for some reason it won't bold the topics. At least it's consistent now. -
Looking great. :)
Thanks Jim (and everyone else involved)Edit: One more thing, entirely incidental. The pfSense logo at the top no longer takes you to the main pfsense.org site.

Thank-o-Matic is on now, seems to work OK, but it'll need some testing. And since I can't thank my own posts, I may randomly thank some others. (And if someone could click it for mine, that would also be helpful)
-

I'd say that is a good thing… It always irked me that it led away from the forum. But it's debatable, could go either way.

Yeah, that was pretty annoying.

Like I say it's just something that has changed. Personally I used it to click through to get to the docs wiki for example. Not difficult to type it though. Maybe a link at the top somewhere?
Steve
-
The page links to long threads being on a different line from the page title irked me … so I fixed that, too.
Not sure about links at the top of the page. None of the other pages interlink that I'm aware of. The doc wiki used to, but we "fixed" that a long time ago, too.

I gave "Thanks!" for your post. It looks like you can only "Thanks" one post per page.

Yeah it does seem to have a one-per-page limit. I'm not sure if that can be tweaked or not. For one reason or another the options don't show up like they're supposed to in the admin panel. I'll have to poke at that again later.
