    I had recreated the interface, also moving it away from being opt1. Today I wanted to try the if_pppoe kernel module. After the mandatory reboot, not only was the WireGuard Service down again, also none of the tunnels were up... I switched back to the old module after heaving no success with WireGuard after another reboot. But even then it took two further reboots to have WireGuard working again. Right now it works with the new module according to the web-UI but I am really concerned what will happen at next reboot.

    Hi,

    I did a research regarding PHP-based REST framweworks. Cause I am at work and thus do not have access to my bookmarks I won't be able to provide a link. I'll try to paste a link ASAP…

    What I found so far:

    http://tonic.sourceforge.net/docs/
    http://wiki.jonnay.net/bunny/meditation/meditation (from 2006!)
    http://giantrobots.thoughtbot.com/2007/4/2/jester-javascriptian-rest

    thanks for the fast reply!
    tomorrow or friday I get a new machine (http://geizhals.at/a243705.html) and hope that that will solve the problem.
    otherwise I will try Intel NIC's.

    best regards,

    Basically people should take five minutes to sit down and think about roles. After that you will realize that pfSense has not the role of a database server (period!). So if you need to store data, setup a RDBMS on a dedicated machine.

    Search the forum. It has been discussed before and there already is a small tool somewhere that you can install that does it. btw, new versions use the middle led to indicate alerts, so you only have the 3rd led left  ;)

    @uranellus:

    @cmb:

    Maybe I'm jumping in a bit late here, but maybe it would make more sense to have a logging alerts tab or something, and just make the email alerts say that there's a new log alert, with a URL to the webGUI of the pfsense box it came from? Then it's as secure as your webGUI, and avoids the mess of encrypting emails.

    Nice idea, I might add that as well later .. Though my initial goal was it to have the actual logs on my mail account, so I hope you don't mind, if I go for that functionality first.

    You're the one doing the work, do it however suits you. :)

    @uranellus:

    @cmb:

    If email encryption is the preferred way to go, personally I much prefer S/MIME. Have a field where I can put in my public key on pfsense, and then my MUA would automatically decrypt it since it has my private key.

    Ok, that's another way to do it, though since pfSense has it's own private key for https, I guess I'll rather just use that, instead of adding another key, but I'm open to this as well if there are more people who would prefer this. Or then I might even implement both..

    I think both would be the way to go (eventually). Not a lot of people use S/MIME, though I think a large number of the people who want this would configure it just for this purpose because it's so convenient. All the emails would show in your MUA as normal messages, but be secure in transit.

    known bugs is why the snapshots are not yet a release version. The first 1.2 beta will be out soon, which will be free of all known issues. The 1.2 release should follow shortly after.

    As for IRQ sharing, yeah it shouldn't cause any problems, but it will reduce performance (not sure how much, but something as active as a disk and a NIC, both of which can be interrupt heavy if under load, could be significant).

    @hoba:

    Rerunning the wizard should always get you the latest version. Maybe remove the trafficshaper ruleset first and rerun the wizard again next time.

    I'll try that tonight. Thanks for the feedback so far.

    just to conclude this the issue seemed to lie with a lack of a full ports tree namely lack of /usr/ports/Mk
    this caused a bsdinstaller error that was passed over and then caused other things to fail.

    this seems to be resolved now in allowing all ports to be in the supfile.

    thanks for the help and i hope this helps others
