    Im clueless when it comes to programming this stuff…  I know how to tweak settings and what not - but I am certainly no programmer!

    What would a fair bounty be?   If its fairly involved in terms of integrating it with pfSense -- I would be happy to pay someone to code a squid install on a separate linux box that I could run transparently between my pfSense box and the AP?

    I just didn't know where else to turn to!

    Don't know why the ettercap link didn't work?  If you add that ending parenthesis on "(computing)" it will pop up... The forums didn't like the ending " ) " for some reason?

    It won't.  Linux drivers are very different from FreeBSD drivers.  If you wanted someone to port it over, the project would cost far more than $20, assuming you could find someone willing to do the work.

    At the opposite end of the scale for this, someone might want to pursue a package for Nagios.

    Not sure I'd want that on my edge router/firewall, but many others might.

    @ermal:

    All you need is on 2.0 snapshots and the interface bonding cannot be backported easily on 1.2 so either try 2.0 and report problems you found and you can pay the amount pledged to me to fix them.
    What do you think?

    I would take you up on your offer as i said in my last post i would be happy to pay 200-300$ to get the load balancer working. I can live without the network bonding at the moment. I don't want to rush you but i need to get this working as soon as possible. It would be great if someone could help me.

    Before closing and moving this bounty I'd like to hear about the progress it made and what's implemented and in which version!
    If it's usable (e.g. with a GUI) I plan on getting VDSL for the office and contribute to this bounty!

    German Telekom (T-com.de and especially t-entertain.de) need this to function properly, FWIW.

    The reason this is still sitting here is because it's very difficult and requires heavy kernel modifications to software that we don't develop or maintain. At the typical rates that kernel developers command, this is a several thousand dollar project at a minimum, possibly into 5 figures, if we could even find someone willing and able to take it on. Of our existing developers, they either don't have the expertise, or don't have the time even if the money was there.

    I'd love to see this happen, but the reality is we'd need at least 10 times what has been offered here to interest anyone capable of doing this kind of work.

    Snort always gave me problems so I stopped using it.

    So I am wondering if just getting clamav working be our best interest and later when snort's engine is matured enough that it can run with multi cores then we can revisit it?

    @kapara:

    I like the idea of a diff running and sending the diff data to the syslog.  It could check every (length of time) 15 minutes to 1 hour for changes.  It could look at the config date and time stamp if it is different from the last time it performed a diff it would create a new diff and send to syslog.  This way you do not have to worry about the different areas.

    Just as requested use diff on the config.xml to build the patch instructions and send those to the syslog server. Could also write the diff patches to a directory.

    Diff as described in.

    Perry: I wasn't aware of this, it sure is a nice idea to have a live backup of your precious rules.

    jahonix: I had never noticed this ;)

    But in both case these are possible ways to juggle and more / less get what i am mentioning, but in both cases, it doesn't fully fit the needs.

    The "on boot time" select of the config is in my scenario pretty useful.
    I'm not sure keeping 5 or 6 configs in history without labeling them properly can be a good way to manage your config files..
    Specially as my embed-boxen have different uses. (transparent AP, filtering AP, AP + captiv, no AP ..)

    Thus the idea of the bounty.

    I, too, would be willing to add $150 to this bounty for multicast tunneling/forwarding/routing. I'm looking to route multicast packets over OpenVPN tunnels.

    we may throw in our bounty support as well. we are looking for load balancing sip (voip) traffic on udp. there are two things to consider: (a) one sender is sending many calls which should be load balanced among 1 or more servers, and (b) messaging for the same call should always be sent to the same server (call stickiness, if you will). the sooner this load balancing can be added (even if to 1.3), the better it would be for us and all others in our situation.

    If mcrane isn't the right fit for this for some reason or doesn't want to take it on, let us know and we'll promote this on our blog, the FreeBSD jobs list, and maybe elsewhere and see if we can find someone that is willing to take this on.

    Thanks for the heads up.  I fixed the subject and body to match.  Really, if there is more interest in this I can contribute a lot more $$.
