use ur own IP. Also can link from login page. No config need. Expired date can be set as needed, can hack those very easily. For eg, to set time out 1 months after register.

I plugged this into my test box and it works pretty well.
It's a pretty cool start and would be nice to have in the system to build off of.  I'm willing, time permitting, to write a simple patch for the CP to enable this from the services > captive portal page if there is interest.

I am a wireless internet provider and at present i am using bandwidthd and monitoring the upload/download cap manually but this is very tedious and does not work well when i am away which is 5months of the year.

I would really like to see the feature added. I am an Electrical and computer engineer and can offer my services but at present I have to much work to help out. However from June to the end of July I will have a lot of free time on my hands and can help out.

I have since found a way to do what I needed.  I am using the available FreeRADIUS package.  The FreeRADIUS service features an online time for each user.  The Captive Portal service authenticates with the local FreeRADIUS service, and then authenticates connected users every minute to determine disconnects.  The portal page has the welcome and terms.  The authentication error page has a close message.  My intent was a network open to any customer during business hours, so I crafted the portal page accept button to authenticate without typing the username and password.

This has been implemented since mid-January at two sites, pfSense functions well in this manner.  Thanks to the development team.  Also thanks to community members who contributed to the FreeRADIUS package.

If your are using the radius server, the total up/down usage will be log by accounting packet..

Yes you are correct.  I understand that is how they currently make their money…..but once a company has a massive customer base albeit non-paying, and becomes incredibly popular they have the possibility of getting gobbled up.  Slimming down the functionality and then charging a premium for the more "advanced" features.  Do not get me wrong.  I will enjoy the ride for as long as possible.

I think you might be better waiting for newer versions of pfSense which will have an updated version of em driver since of the move to FreeBSD 6.3.
So, no, with the request i just wanted to answer you when you could test pfSense, meaning that your nic will get recognized.

Doing such a porting is to much work.

We've spent ages so far trying to get LCDProg working with PicoLCD (on M200/300) without any luck - However, we're getting really close.

Here's a few things that MIGHT help you crack the code! (we're not BSD gurus)

There's an issue with the way the driver is detected - It shows as a UHID driver (meaning that the native lcdproc driver can't see it)

It's possible…but you should take a look at the athstats when it does go down. If you see many tx underruns, then you've got the same problem. You've gotta hit it with heavy traffic though.

I've just worked on this.  At this point I can select which WAN interface i want DDNS on but i haven't been able to setup a group, i guess because I haven't tried.  Do you still need this functionality?  I put a post in the multi-wan forum regarding some of the changes I've made.  There are a lot of peculiarities I noticed in the dyndns.class file.  I wasn't sure what some of the intentions were for parts of the class, a lot of inner class variables weren't getting used and there are continous calls to get_real_wan_ip even though you are supposed to be passing that in anyways. Let me know if you have interest and what your bounty is.
