    Hi,

    any updates here?
    I've been researching hoststated a bit, and while it's surely more powerful than slbd, it still lacks exactly what I need.

    /Eirik

    @ltning:

    Hi,

    currently slbd only supports round-robin for server pools. The GUI currently advertises a failover mode. I need this to work as advertised, in addition to a way to see which system is currently active (in status page?) and - optionally - a quick way to toggle which system is used.

    FYI, that was a bug in implementation.  The server load balancing already has an implemented site down feature.

    I am aware of this. Will I be able to "chain" pools/virtual servers in order to achieve what I want? I.e. defining a single-server pool with the panichost pointing to another single-server pool, etc.? This would solve my problem, though it is a tad ugly…

    @billm:

    @ltning:

    After failing over to a lower-priority host, it should go back to the next higher-priority as soon as it is available again. The way it currently works with the "panic host" is the behavior I want, but I don't want to use that feature to achieve this – a "panic host" is still desired.

    Any takers?

    /Eirik

    For whoever considers this bounty…it'll require C skills and PHP skills to implement.

    ..except if my above idea works, in which case it would only have to be wrapped in some PHP …

    Hi Guys,

    Sorry for my late reaction.

    I want to pay the mentioned bounty but I need to know who to address the money to.

    Please let me know how, what, who… ;-)

    Thanks!

    pfflowd is in packages, that'll export NetFlow which is essentially the same as this.

    If you still want to proceed with pmacct, I may be interested in this bounty.

    What kind of GUI would be required? If you can describe what needs to be in the GUI, and exactly how that is used in the configuration files, I may be able to do this.

    I've looked into this feature before but stopped when I saw part in from the link that says:

    Please note that not only is this unsupported, it appears to cause a kernel hang condition about once every 24 hours.

    Has this been stabilized yet?

    Web url & content filter's and antivirus filter based on squid(or any proxy) must work by ICAP technology.
    _http://icap-server.sourceforge.net
    _http://www.networksorcery.com/enp/protocol/icap.htm
    _http://www.francetelecom.com/en/group/rd/offer/software/technologies/reseaux/P01152.html
    In this time free projects on beginner state. I found many commercial, and low free projects (poesia for example - supported Euro-Union).
    AND squid-ICAP-client now not stable :(

    Wow big spender :) I'm guessing what he wants is similar to what I had wanted http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,5032.0.html

    I'd add $100 to seeing this get done, but i'm not even sure it's possible.

    @tacfit:

    I've got a CSV with all the MAC addresses on my network, but I certainly don't want to type them all into the Wake on LAN service page. I also can't be bothered to figure out how to paste them into the XML to do it that way.

    Maybe someone can help out?

    If you are routing traffic to the hosts then you can just look at the ARP table and copy the hardware addresses from there :/

    No problem, the $500 bounty still stands. For our part, we will try to port HostStateD to PfSense for our own needs for now, and provide any useful information to the forum.

    I think it will be best to ask the other way: How much would it cost to get this done? What I'd like to see is a IGMP proxy for FreeBSD, open source, maybe with a GPL license? It's really fascinating to see that there is no such program for BSD* and only one for Linux.

    I'd add another 50$ for the following details in the reporting…..whatever software is used in collecting data and endorsed as a good choice by the leading pfsense developers:

    Bandwidth consumed by the WAN, start date & end date to be user defined. Downtime & downtime timings by the WAN during the defined billing period. Latency checked for given sites through each WAN for specified sites and reported if above given latency for that site. In addition to web based reporting, Reports to be emailed through a SMTP server on the LAN to given two-three email addresses.

    Anyone taking this on please reconfirm the bounty with features you propose to implement.

    With regards.
    Sanjay.

    Hello All

    Great idea. I'd contribute another 50$ for a snort reporting interface, Base or sguill…both seem good. Will leave the decision as to which one to the experts out there. However, the database should be on the pfsense machine itself. I'd like it to be postgreSQL so, i will add another bounty of 50$ for postgresql support or database independence layer.

    After using pfsense for almost a year now, I've decided to stick to the project and offer some bounties for the features I want since I can't contribute code myself.

    With best regards.
    Sanjay.

    Hello All

    I'd pay an additional 50$ for all the above plus uploading the logs to dshield after required filtering, for use with the fightback feature of dshield. Installed as a package and auto-updating. Anyone taking this up is suggested to post a final feature list and reconfirm the additional bounty with the features to be implemented.

    With best regards.
    Sanjay.
