Thanks. I have been trying but I've run into a dead end at the moment. Hopefully someone will give me a lead in the thread that I have open. Glad that you got your issue solved.

That looks like quite a board! If FreeBSD (and by extension, pfSense) starts supporting ARM, LOTS of things become possible. Exciting times, these are!

    @Diler:

Intel NIC - RTL NIC (I'm using this RTL on my other home server for 5 years now under pfSense. I had no problem with speed and stabillity. The speed was always very close to the HW max.)

You're the only one who likes Realtek NICs.

That's not something we'd charge an incident for. Get in touch via support once you've gathered what data you can.

This will be mainly just for firewall, NAT and OpenVPN between his house in California and mine in Texas.

Pending on this it would be enough to go with an PC Engines APU2D4 or Jetway N2930 based device.

    Jetway N2930 ~$250 (board case & PSU)
    8 GB RAM ~$40
    mSATA 32 GB ~$40
    All in all ~$330

    PC Engines APU1D4 ~220 € with pre-installed pfSense

    PC Engines APU2C4 ~190 € (board, case & PSU) (AES-NI)
    mSATA 32 GB ~40 €
    WiFi ~40 €
    All in all ~270 €

up with but I am in an area Google is deploying gigabit which makes me think the N3150 would allow for more speed.

Good luck to you for both.

I ended up ordering a ZOTAC ZBOX RI531 with 16GB of RAM and 120GB SSD. Thanks for all of your input.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I will work through these items and come back around Monday as I'm out of town. Just quickly though:

I'm using the ADI community version as documented here: https://netgate.com/docs/rcc-ve-2440/pfsense.html I am doing this on the LAN interface only

What I will do is run the test with pf disabled so that it's not working any rules. It shouldn't as I don't have any on the LAN.

    regards,
    Cybertoy

Maybe. Chipset would be nice to know.

    Also: Post dmesg Please.

@devs: Does the pfsense-FreeBSD-kernel support alpm (Agressive Link Power Management)?

    Hey Dave,

sorry its been a while. thanks for response above. Just because I do not have time on my side, I am thinking of buying from the pfsense store. If I get the SG-2440, https://store.pfsense.org/SG-2440/, that should cater to my needs for the next couple of years.

I will turn the wireless off on my modem, and have it just as a bridge between the DSL line and the SG-2440, i.e.

    Modem - ADSL in
    Modem - LAN out
    SG-2440 - WAN In
SG-2440 - LAN out - will be my actual devices

Do you think this will work out for me.

    Cheers for the help.

I am not sure if you ever solved this, but I ran into a similar issue with my Zyxel switch.  After a fair amount of cursing and wasted time, I realized that the LAGG interface and the specific ports being used in the LAGG have to be manually added to the VLANs in question (i.e. it is not sufficient to only add the ports being used).  This is all done from the same management screen in the Zyxel web interface - the LAGG interfaces are all the way at the bottom of the screen.  Hopefully you figured this out, but maybe it will help someone else who finds this thread in the future.

    Hi,

We have the same problem on a different intel nic, see: https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=106109.msg593874#msg593874

I will try the workaround using the LAGG interface

    @SpeederA:

    Sorry I went AWOL guys.
    Been a little busy….

Box is still running, although I've had to reset it do to hang twice in 4 months...
Throughput has been a little constrained as well as of late (~60mb on a 100mb connection)
Haven't had time to troubleshoot yet.

Will be updating on this sometime later this month!

Mine is running 2.3 beta (it ran 2.2.6 before), and I never had to reset it but I don't use USB ethernet though. (I use VLANs with a managed switch)
