@andrew_cb Thank you very much for this, I just tried your proposed solution and it did work! That was driving me crasy! Way simpler than deleting the haproxy_server_state file.

@NRgia said in Suricata on Pfsense: @bmeeks Thank you for what you did for Snort or Suricata. I'm not sure what you want me to do on Redmine, due to is a bug tracker. My question is for Product Management, which I will ask it here to be public: What is the plan for these 2 packages, Suricata and Snort? Thank you Yes, Redmine is for both bug reports and feature requests. Asking for the Suricata binary to be updated to the latest 7.0.11 version from upstream is a legitimate Redmine request. I would suggest simply asking for the binary version update instead of asking about future Netgate strategy (such as the support plans for the packages). Strategy discussions typically don't get very far because they deal with proprietary information or plans that a company may not want to publicly discuss. Redmine is where the Netgate developer team tracks all the code changes they make for pfSense. They will see Redmine reports much quicker than a forum post.

@Leon-Straathof Data retention settings are handled inside of ntopng. Documentation here. Pay attention to the RRD note. Also, if you've turned on some of the slice and dice time series information (is off by default), I'd suggest turning them back off. These balloon the storage requirements and are of little actual use.

@andrebrait will you be able to rebase pfblockerng-adblock-clean on top of devel in the foreseeable future? I have been able to make use of patches until I upgraded to 25.07-RELEASE. The conflicts are deep. Oddly the pfblockerNG-devel package is 3.2.7 despite the current refs having 3.2.9 in the Makefile.

@jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: Interesting. I would have thought the initial reboot, which occurred as part of the upgrade, would have done the trick, but it took a second reboot, just now, to get things working. Glad you have it sorted. There was no difference in the output of usbconfig show_ifdrv at any point -- before or after unplugging/replugging the USB cable, nor after rebooting. ... Question: What would tell me whether or not a driver was loaded? If there were an attached driver, it should have shown up with the show_ifdrv command. If you use the command and look at the other usb devices, I think they will show attached drivers. I don't expect to see a driver attached to the ups, because there is a quirk that tells the OS to ignore that device (and not attach a driver). Look for idVendor and idProduct in the above output. The Vendor ID for your device is 0764, which corresponds to Cyber Power Systems, and the Product ID for your device is 0601, which is registered as "PR1500LCDRT2U UPS" (don't sweat an exact match for the name). You can see the quirk with the following command: [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: usbconfig dump_device_quirks | grep 0764 VID=0x0764 PID=0x0005 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0501 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0601 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: Your device is third on the list. The HID_IGNORE quirk says to ignore the device and not attach a driver. @jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: You might consider adding this resolution to the release notes for 2.8. LOL... sorry, I don't have input to the release notes (I don't work here). While I wrote and maintain various packages, including NUT, I'm still just a volunteer. Most packages are actually written by volunteers.

@EChondo What's your pfSense version ? The instructions are shown here : [image: 1753262126227-1acdc586-cb29-4148-9e36-81ade4e5e60c-image.png] A restart of a service will start by re creating their config files. If a certificate changed, it will get included. When the process starts, it will use the new certificate. @EChondo said in Issue with ACME Certificates Refresh & Restarting HAProxy: I haven't been able to confirm if the above works(mine just renewed, don't feel like doing it again just to test), so we'll see in 60 days I guess. No need to wait x days. You can re test / renew right away, as you are 'allowed' to renew a couple (5 max ?) of times per week.

@totalimpact Tailscale 1.54.0 is 2+ years out of date. Tailscale has made quite a number of changes since Tailscale 1.54.0, likely rendering it incompatible with their servers. I would consider manually updating the Tailscale FreeBSD package. FreshPorts does not maintain an archive of all the releases, only the latest compiled by the volunteer maintainers. The key to manually upgrading is knowing which FreeBSD version your pfSense release is running, i.e. 14 or 15. You can following along here.

SOLVED. Turns out nothing wrong with my tunnel setup and not due to CGNAT. The reason PING works and other traffic doesn't is due to packet size and MTU. Something on the wireless network means that the default MTU doesn't work, forcing a smaller MTU to 1280 on pfSenseB fixed this. This Reddit thread has more details of this issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/WireGuard/comments/qmsa2n/ping_works_but_sites_arent_loading/

@Supermule: Didnt that get updated via the GUI?? @DigitalDeviant: I jusat signed up for VRT rules and cannot get them to install after a reinstall and reconfiguration of snort. I'm currently running 2.0.2-RELEASE (amd64). Edit: The issue may lie with my Snort account. I was unable to manually pull 2.9.4.1 rules with my Oinkmaster URL; I got an error saying I was not a subscriber, though I can manually download the 2.9.4.1 rules. I was able to pull 2.9.4.0 via Oinkmaster URL. Edit 2: All problems with my account are cleared and I still cannot automatically download Snort 2.9.4.1 rules. Edit 3: I had to change {$oinkid} in snort_check_for_rule_updates.php with my actual Oinkid. Then it worked. I haven't had time to troubleshoot any further. I have confirmed I have the right Oikcode in the GUI. Unless I change it in both spots it wound download the MD5 or rules. I don't have the exact errors from the system logs but it seemed like the download link was wrong so I'm guessing that it's not getting the Oinkcode variable. Troubleshooting time is minimal so any ideas on how to proceed would be appreciated.

Hey Barry! I got it blocked it using squid and squidguard! My settings squid on transparent proxy and on squidguard with blacklist "http://www.shallalist.de/Downloads/shallalist.tar.gz", denied these two "[blk_BL_hobby_games-misc] - [blk_BL_hobby_games-online]" on both tabs Common ACL and Groups ACL! and it blocked those two websites.! One more thing about squidguard after making all the changes inside move to the "General settings" tab and scroll to the end and SAVE the settings first and then HIT apply on top of the same page. Good-Day!

Hi, can you make sure that the server certificate for the RADIUS server is a "server" certificate and not a client certificate ? Where did you create the certificate? Did you select the CA and the server cert in freeradius –> EAP --> CERTIFICATES FOR TLS ? If you created the certificate/CA on pfsense then you need to empty the "Private Key Password". Sometimes it works after clicking a second time on the "Save" button on the freeradius --> EAP page. If your Linux/Android clients does not support PEAP + MSCHAPv2 then you should use some other mechanism than MSCHAPv5. Try with MD5. It's not a security problem because PEAP establishes a TLS tunnel and this is secure and it doesn't matter what is happening within the tunnel unless it is compatbile with your devices.

Thank you for your feedback. If I remember correct on an some weeks old test environment I installed HAVP and I could see that ClamAV version wasn't the actual version as it is on the clamav homepage. I am not sure if all signatuires and programcodes are still up to date on the HAVP package or if these will update automatically. Using an "old" version of HAVP proxy isn't the main problem i think because it is just redirecting traffic throu7gh ClamAV but it makes no sense (in my opinion) to redirect traffic through an old/utdates antivirus scanner and lose performance even if the scanner is not on the newest version an cannot find "all" viruses. I would be interested if ClamAV is independent from HAVP and updates itself? How does this work on other packages like Danguardian?

@AhnHEL: @bmeeks: FYI.  I now have this functionality working in my latest test build of the Snort GUI. Wow, that was fast Bill.  Excellent work, cant wait to try out all the new improvements. Here is a link to my Github repository showing my latest changes: https://github.com/bmeeks8/pfsense-packages/commits/master You can look at the Commit History.  Changes after March 22 have NOT yet been submitted to the pfSense team.  I hope to do that in a day or two. @ccb056: Maybe there is something wrong with running both Snort and ET rules at the same time…. No there shouldn't be a problem, I run both sets in my production system.  I run different sets on different interfaces.  My updates happen without any problems.  If you have not yet, a reboot of that box might help. I'm still doing quite a bit of testing various scenarios with the newest Snort package in a virtual machine environment.  I have found a few quirks in the PHP code that I am cleaning up and improving.  Hope to have a GUI code update to submit this weekend.  One area where I made some changes is in the rules update code (but nothing that I expect would definitely cause or correct the issue you see – still, it might help). thx for your answer ! The thing is, I wanna do Radius or Local authentification on LAN (because the computer are multi-user) and just Mac logging on Wifi (wich is single user device). So I need the LAN interface not to be transparent and the WiFi to be (espcially because Android's Phone older than 4.0 can't add proxy settings for browsing ). Not sur i'm really clear … On IPCOP or smoothwall I can do it juste like that : [image: proxy.png] So it's possible but I don't know how to do it with Pfsense …

@adiadasman: You mean just drop down to the FreeBSD prompt and install the package? Not in a jail? I am sorry, I have just started using pfSense, so I am still trying to familiarize myself with it. I would also need to install MySQL as well, correct? Yes, just use pkg_add -r for amd64 on freebsd 2.0.x pkg_add -r http://ftp-archive.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD-Archive/ports/amd64/packages-8.1-release/security/maia-1.0.2a_3.tbz Test it on a virtual machine first to see if it breaks or not pfsense gui.

@joako: My understanding it was already patched but with the same version number, uninstall + reinstall resolved it for me. Correct.  The Version Number was not incremented for the latest fix for WAN IP blocking.  Just uninstall and reinstall as suggested and the "fix will be in"… :) Bill

Redirects only function when a page is blocked - it's the replacement for a block message.  Try it with a block message and no redirect and see if the clients you wish to redirect get the block message.  You will also need to add a the redirect site to the Target Categories tab then set that page to Allow on the Allowed Clients rule or Whitelist it on the Common ACL page.  Otherwise it ends up in a loop of trying to visit the redirect page, oops, redirect page is blocked, so redirect, oops, redirect page blocks, so redirect . . .
