    @microserfs and what IP was that - clearly your current IPv6 address is not block that I show you connected with.. And the only other IPv4 I see you using is not blocked.. You would have to let me know what IP you were coming from that was blocked.. Send it to me via PM if you don't want to make it public.

    Name it "run.sh", copy to pf and chmod according documentation
    https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/development/boot-commands.html#shell-script-option
    You will see messages in the system log like those quoted in the script after logger command.

    Yut size does matter. My oldest Rottweiler boy has a crush on the largest chicken in the back of the yard  ;D ;D ;D

    OT: it's nice of you to thank all the hard workers that provide this fine system and community to us.

    @Harvy66:

    Debian 8 was released about 8p-9p my time, but I was not aware of it until about 11:30p.

    Given this 2,5 hours, I think you are still in the top 0,00000000001%.

    Governments, with a zillion government 'workers', typically take 10 years to get the latest news  ;D ;D ;D

    Kom:

    Thanks for the feedback,

    Yes, I did read that guide and that is where I got my info from and why i believed that IPsec would be the best choice for my situation over the other options.

    Hopefully someone with some IPsec info can chime in with some more specifics or maybe I can get the thread moved to the IPsec section if deemed a good fit to be there.

    because ESF wishes to spend their time more useful on other things that are more relevant (in their eyes)  at this point in time. That's why they'll remove it from pfSense-base and leave it up to the community.

    anyone could potentially create a 'pptp server' addon package for pfSense after 2.3.x, that could be installed by webgui. so it'll all depend if someone wishes to spend the time and effort to keep supporting pptp

    @miguelgoncalves:

    The other thing I like is the access to firewall services can be firewalled using FQDNs something ASA devices can't do.

    Indeed! Been there with a big fat expensive ASA, highly annoying.

    Cheers,

    @riahc3:

    @Mr.:

    cygwin + rsync?

    Was one of the solutions I was looking at. A rsync client looks pretty OK to setup in Windows but a server? I gotta look more into that.

    Besides robocopy is take a ETERNITY to complete 2.22TB started on Friday at 10PM is still running Sunday at 4PM….

    Robocopy is MS's interpretation of 'automation' ( ;D ;D ;D ) (why copy what hasn't changed?).

    From your 3 targets, why do you need to install an rsync server? If you have a common NAS (Syno, Qnap, FreeNAS), rsync server is built in, and for the USB-disk you don't need a server. You can simple rsync source target, e.g::

    rsync: c:\docs e:\docs (plus the switches of course, which I don't know by head  ;D ).

    Most of the guys working with ISPs who customers get a chance to talk to are just a little bit more knowledgeable than trained monkeys.

    Most of them are moderately competent as long as you don't get away from the one modem and the one router they were trained on.

    I'd say you are mostly on your own once you deviate from "standard" equipment.

    *** Update - Problem Solved ***

    After pfSense version 2.2.1 was released, I downloaded the software and performed a brand new install for the second time. Now it also runs perfectly stable in combination with my Virtualbox setup. I still don't know what caused the issue in the first place, but it does not matter much anymore…

    One thing I noticed, there seems to be a huge improvement with the openvpn performance. It connects much faster, and I can get up- and download speeds up to 60Mbit, where I got 35 - 40 with the old version. Same settings, same hardware...

    I'm happy with it. Thanks to anyone involved! :)

    Please exclude squid and snort from the lottery style auto install…  Otherwise you will never hear the end of crying.
