@sef1414 Name it "run.sh", copy to pf and chmod according documentation https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/development/boot-commands.html#shell-script-option You will see messages in the system log like those quoted in the script after logger command.

+1 to cmb's comments.  Give it a while and it may be worth looking at, but currently there's nothing it can do that Snort hasn't done for some time.  Given a choice between a well tested platform, and a new one, for any security critical one I'd go with the well tested one…

@valnar: Will there be PPPoA support in 2.0? No plans for that. Not sure if mpd can handle that or how much work it would be.

I've known (never met, but conversed with many times) Manual for something like 6 years, before this project existed (I was originally, and still am, a m0n0wall developer too). He doesn't have interest in doing a lot of work on m0n0wall or joining another dev team. His focus has moved to a "real job", m0n0wall was most active and initially written when he was in college. Though a few of our developers now do this as their "real job", thanks to the contributions of many companies. Maybe if that increases further, we'll offer him a job.  ;D

All good things to hear.  ;D As for the transparent proxy, someone would just need to add some kind of file system management package to let you mount external drives. You can already specify the cache directory for squid. Though you must also keep in mind that the act of being a caching server does require a bit of CPU, so the embedded unit may not be up to the task of this role in that way as well. A feature like that (file system management) might be a good candidate for a bounty.

Use Traffic Shaper. You can monitor and assign maximum download and upload speed of each user. Install squidguard. You can filter website you dont want to be available in your network. Blocked sites.

Go to http://support.toshiba.com/ and click download.  Put in your model and look for drivers for Windows Vista or 7 (Vista drivers generally work with 7).

You'd have to copy them off a FreeBSD machine (or ISO, perhaps) that uses the same FreeBSD version that your version of pfSense has. I don't think there is a binary package for them anywhere, as they are part of the FreeBSD base system.

Since the LBAs are different and don't repeat, it's more likely either a DMA bug, a controller issue, or a flaky SATA cable. Can't rule out a flaky drive, but you can always pkg_add -r smartmontools and then run smartctl -a /dev/ad6 It can also run drive tests, it should print out a list of options if you just run 'smartctl'.

Download via the GUI under: "backup/restore" the config.xml. Everything is stored in this file. You can manually add your own mappings to this file and restore it. If you cannot find the right place in the file or dont know how to format it, add a dummy entry first and look for this.

if you're pxebooting then you have to be pulling your OS from somewhere. So let's say you set up your thin client as a thin client and pxeboot it. Where is all them bytes you just moved off your hard drive?
