These are really SMF issues.  I don't think we can change them and stay compatible with future updates.

Either will work.  Format the floppy or usb keychain as msdos. However, I really don't suggest using a floppy.  But if you insist atleast backup the configuration often, beacuse when that floppy finally dies, you will happy you did  :D

Hopefully this problem is now solved.  We upgraded to 1.1 SMF.
