@johnpoz I got it working!!! I was going to swap the Switch, but I realized that at no point had I depowered the current switch. I decided to do that and go a bit further. I depowered all the equipment and unplugged it. Deleted the network and all associated entries. Followed by a reboot and verified it was entirely gone. Then I just set it up as a new network (new name and ip address). And Voila, it works. Thanks again for your suggestions. Much appreciated.

@gertjan I removed the blocker and I'm still getting the error and it's mostly for the other people in the house and it seems to be on only some devices that the web page doesn't load. But my wifi on my phone keeps getting disconnected as well and not reconnecting and it's only to my home wifi it does this now

Netgate includes a free service they host. We've actually not set that up as we've gotten in the habit of backing up any router we make changes on, so it's usually at our office and/or the client's office. They have another page with alternatives.

It would be very unusual for the ISP to support both PPPoE and DHCP. But there should be no problem moving the PPPoE part to a modem/router in front of pfSense. If a laptop works there in a private subnet pfSense should too as long as there isn't a subnet conflict. Steve

I suggest you also try the alternative driver, you have nothing to lose by doing so.

haha - then its not a "lab" ;) Buy yourself a $40 smart switch - then you can mirror/span whatever you want.

@skogs said in 2.5.0 seems more stable: wasn't really all that stable. Some days I'd have to restart the network interfaces, unbound, or the whole machine 2 or 3 times. Sometimes once a week. Glad you're having better luck. I've run pfSense and m0n0wall before that for many years and general instability was never a problem across multiple clients. I've seen them run for years without a reboot if an unmanaged client got behind in updates. We have exactly one Realtek card in service, and it hasn't been a problem, but I do see posts pretty frequently here bashing Realtek due to the FreeBSD drivers. So I'd guess it was more likely the "added in the Realtek driver" part of your post? Not saying you're wrong...just very patient.

Don't know however, I made the suggestion knowing you want a robust secure WIFI and RouterOS would provide that.

@tittu What you may want to do is create a rule to allow only the desired address(s) through followed by the block RFC1918 rule.

@gertjan Version 2.4.5-RELEASE-p1. swapstate_check.php was already by default, and we need to get the Squid package installed.
